Everything you wanted to know (and not know) about water.
In: Parkinson's
17 Sep 2009We are all familiar with Parkinson’s Disease, which is a degenerative disease of the central nervous system that is both chronic and progressive. The most common symptom is trembling of the hands, arms, legs, jaw, and face.
There is no cure for Parkinson’s, but levodopa helps in about three quarters of reported cases. Carbidopa is often combined with the levodopa in order to delay the conversion of the levodopa into dopamine until it reaches the brain.
Here is a story that was related to me recently about Parkinson’s. I will leave it up to the person to tell the story in her own words (with a few minor corrections).
“I have had Parkinson’s for about 8 years, and the Disease has steadily progressed. A friend offered me a sample of alkaline ionized water in April of 2009, after telling me that there was evidence that Parkinson’s patients had been helped by the water. I liked the taste and texture, so I began to drink it every day.
Prior to drinking the water, I was a member of a bowling team. I was not very good, but I enjoyed it. I was always worried about falling as I had been experiencing dizzy spells and had problems with my coordination. I never fell but there were plenty of times that I thought I would.
Once I began to drink ionized water, I noticed positive changes. It was hard for me to believe, because I have had the disease for so long, but my symptoms began to improve. I finished the bowling season in May, and my ability to move around with confidence improved each week. My score didn’t improve much, but my enjoyment of the game increased. I found myself able to move to the ball return and deliver the ball with confidence. That may not sound like a big thing to people who don’t suffer from Parkinson’s, but it made a huge difference to me.
I recently purchased my own water ionizer for convenience, and to take advantage of the water being as fresh as possible. It is important to drink the water fresh, as the ORP is the most effective when the water first comes out of the machine. You learn this stuff as you go.
Recently I visited my doctor at the University of Miami. I told him of the positive developments once I started drinking the water. He told me that if I wasn’t his patient, he would have a hard time diagnosing me with Parkinson’s. He said that I was certainly no longer the typical Parkinson’s patient. He requested that I send him a link about the water and of course I obliged.
Every day I seem to be improving. My hope in sharing this letter is that others may experience similar improvements, and of their symptoms and the quality of life for them will improve like mine.”
I would like to thank the lady from Florida for sharing her story. It is great to hear every success story, and hopefully this forum will allow others to learn from her experience.
This story provides yet another example of a physician learning about the benefits of the water from a patient. While many doctors choose not to listen to anyone except their pharmaceutical reps, it is encouraging that some are willing to listen and learn. I believe that it is inevitable that doctors will learn more and more about the water as the evidence of the benefits can’t be ignored. Doctors may never be able to prescribe the water due to potential repercussions from the College of Physicians, but that doesn’t prevent a physician from suggesting that their patients do some independent research.
Don’t be afraid to tell your physician your story. The more the doctors hear from us, the more likely they will be to take the time to learn. One way or another, the word will spread over time, but it would sure help if the people that we trust with our most private issues would also trust us.

Is there any way to find out more about how much per day she drank and which device she used? I know you don’t support any specific devices, bur I thought I would ask since she specifically mentions Parkinson’s and that is what I am dealing with as well.
Thank you.

would also like to know the device used. am considering a device to decrease the copper content of drinking water; would be great to combine that feature with the alkalizing ionizer if such a device exists. thanks in advance. madelyn

Hi Madelyn:
Thanks for joining in the discussion.
As I mentioned to Robert in the last comment, I don’t talk about specific brands on this blog. It gets more and more difficult to not talk about brands, because so many people seem to want to know. I just want this blog to remain 100% unbiased even though there are definitely specific brands that work better than others under specific conditions. While my stubborness in refusing to get specific may be a pain to some, to the best of my knowledge, this remains the only site on the internet that I’m aware of that deals exclusively with water without trying to sell anything.
I will contact you directly now that I have your email so that I can answer your “product specific” questions. Once you have the information, you will be able to find the machine online on various websites, or choose a different machine that may be tailored to your specific needs. I don’t sell water ionizers, so you don’t have to worry about a sales pitch. I measure success by how many people I can help by getting them started drinking the water.
I can tell you that it doesn’t matter which brand was used, as ionized water is ionized water

Hi Rob,
I’m a skeptic, and this is the first time I’ve read about ionized water. Is it possible for me to contact the lady from Florida directly?
thanks,
Rick

Hi Rick:
Your skepticism is understandable. The water ionizer industry in North America is in its infancy despite the fact the machines have been here for 8 years. In Asia, the machines have been around for 30 years and are widely accepted.
I will send you a private email so that you can provide me with your telephone number. I will then give you a call and get you hooked up.

Hi:
As far as I know, there is only anecdotal evidence available. I have learned to pay attention to ancedotal evidence over the years. The trick is it veryify that the anecdotal evidence is honest.
