Beating arthritis with molecular hydrogen water

Millions of people suffer with arthritis, and many billions of dollars are spent each year battling the disease. Given the widespread occurrence of arthritis, and the cost of dealing with it in terms of suffering and money, it boggles my mind that there are so few people who are aware that alkaline ionized water will get rid of arthritis quickly, and naturally without any side effects.

I had been suffering with osteoarthritis for years, and it was getting worse over time. I have been very active with sports all my life with sports, and I have owned a construction company for the last 19 years. By the spring of 2008, and age 51, I was no longer able to participate in sports and was unable to work with my crew of men. The bottom line was that I was becoming another one of the grumpy old men that we all know.

My physician indicated that I would have to deal with the pain for the rest of my life, but that “we” could manage the pain. In 2007, he began prescribing one 200 mg Arthrotec pill twice each day that I was taking in the morning and evening. Arthrotec is a “coated” Voltarin NSAID that is supposedly easier on the stomach. In addition, he also prescribed one 40 mg Pantoloc pill each day to assist with protecting my stomach. NSAIDS are brutal on the gastrointestinal tract, and to his credit, my physician was attempting to be cautious. What the physician didn’t tell me is that Pantoloc is a Calcium blocker and that it reduces the amount of acid in the stomach, which means that you can’t fully digest your food.

The prescriptions were able to dull the pain on a daily basis, but if I ever missed a pill, the pain would return immediately. Over time, the pain became worse, so I visited a chiropractor three times each week to help manage what was becoming a more and more debilitating problem. The chiropractor manipulations helped a bit, but the there was marginal success. I was spending 3 x $45 each week for the chiropractor plus paying for the pills. In total, I was spending about $700 per month for pain management and was not getting any better.

About that time, my wife Mary told me that she had found the solution to my arthritis. I was skeptical, as she has made a lot of those type of announcements over the years and we have a drawer full of failed attempts. It turns out she had attended a Multi-Level Marketing meeting where she watched a demonstration about alkaline ionized water. She was very excited about the water and told me that “we” were going to do this together. Oh yeah! I had zero interest in this latest attempt at the fountain of youth and good health, but how bad could drinking water be. Compared to all of the weird things she has made me eat over the years, water seemed like a breeze. Mary made me put away my pills and started to fill me up with water. Drinking water is not a lot of fun normally as it seems I get bloated after about one glass. The ionized water seemed to go down a lot easier than regular water and it seemed like I could drink a lot more, but maybe I was just caught up in ”taking one for the team”. The next day I had a big headache which was unusual. The headache continued the second day and I asked my wife if she was trying to kill me with the water. She said she has a headache as well, and suggested we call the water salesman. When we reached him by telephone, he was very happy as he said we were cleansing and detoxing. I could just see the guy dancing a little jig thinking about the commission he was going to make. He’s all happy and I have a head-banger headache! He said to keep drinking the water and the headaches would go away… and they did.

I would have bet 1,000 to 1 odds that the water wouldn’t work for me. I knew my wife meant well, but how could something as simple as ionized water be effective when my doctor and his medications, and chiropractor couldn’t help? Fortunately, I would have been wrong as the results were amazing. Not only did my arthritis go away and stay away, but my acid reflux problem that had been bothering me for about 15 years also disappeared.

Once we were through the trial process, my wife said we should purchase the unit that the water ionizer sales guy was selling. I agreed until I asked how much they cost. When I found out the cost was $4,000, I nearly flipped and I started researching on the internet. It turns out that all alkaline water ionizers work through electrolysis. There are lots of companies out there selling this type of product and it appears that you can purchase a very effective top of the line unit from one of several leading companies for about $2,000 if you don’t get involved with a Multi-Level Marketing program.

It is now 8 months later and I have not taken a pill since I started drinking the water. I returned to playing and coaching basketball, and now I can golf and play tennis again. The machine paid for itself in three months simply by eliminating prescriptions and chiropractor bills. The savings are good, but the real win is that it works! And the bonus is that my wife thinks I’m doing this all for her… Hehe!

Update April 18, 2018

It turns out that the benefits claimed by the alkaline water industry were bogus.  However, the health benefits that myself and many other experienced are derived from Molecular Hydrogen gas (H2) generated at the cathode during electrolysis.  The alkaline water ionizers create lots of H2, but most of the gas is lost within one minute of the water being dispensed from the machines.  Technology developed in 2015 allowed for the H2 gas to be diffused back into the water.  That meant the source of the benefits would remain in the water for about half an hour and the concentration of H2 remains at a therapeutic level for hours.  The H2 machines have been priced at approximately $2,000 for the past 3 years.  A highly respected hydrogen gas business called Brilliantz (see recently decided to abandon its affiliate network and sell directly to the public.  The change in their business model resulted in Brilliantz dropping their prices for H2 products by 50%.  The ability for anybody to buy the best of the best in water machines for $1,000 without dealing with sales people makes the decision real easy for anyone that cares about the water they drink.

  1. Very interesting article, I pulled the link from, Stockhouse/Bullboards comment.

    • Hey ! Bob , I greatly appreciate the information, I am somewhat confused at this point, I have been involved with a particular company you have had some negative things to say about. I have been using the product for the last 4 months and I have experienced a number of benefits from the machine and brand I am using. I have felt so good that I became a distrubutor for the product and have been actively seeking to promote the product to family, friends , and other business, now the creditablity of the company and its ethic have been called into question. The product works the people that I have dealt with over the past several months have been very nice. I believe in the water machine , because I have experience it not because someone told me. I now find myself between a rock and a hard place. I believe in the product however the company and ethics are a serious concern. I believe the so called independent review, now that is in question. I want to stay involved with some type of product, however it hard to know who to trust anymore, I don’t know if you have a hidden agenda, no offense intended. I do appreciate you calling attention to this important matter. I will look to find a good company to be a part of. Thanks LJames

      • Hi LJames:

Thanks for taking the time to write.

You and many others are in the same position in terms of knowing the product works, and also being aware of the ethics of some of the players in the industry. The entire industry has been compromised because of the behaviour of certain individuals. You are not alone when you mention it is hard to decide who, if anyone you can trust.

If I had to pick one company in the electric water ionizer industry to trust, it would be IonWays. While they are far from being angels, they are the best of the crop in my opinion. Now that they have started working with EOS, I think they finally have a high end product to work with. I wish they would have chosen the EOS Platinum 7 plate machine to work with because it does the same thing as the new 9 plate machine but for a lot less money. If your interest lies primarily in helping others as opposed to the profit side of the equation, I would encourage you to investigate the new antioxidant filters.

Everybody asks me all the time if I have a hidden agenda. My wife asks me all the time when I’m going to start to develop an agenda because she thinks I’m nuts doing all of this work without making money:) My agenda continues to be to inform the public about the benefits of ionized water. Unfortunately, I feel it is necessary to point out the indescretions of owners who are holding back the industry so that the public can make informed decisions based upon facts.

    • These water ionizers don’t do anything. A basic understanding of chemistry will show you that the term ”ionized water” means absolutely nothing. If you put a tablespoon of salt in a glass of water it is now ”ionized”. These products are a scam.

      • Hi Dave:

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. There are hundreds of thousands of people, including me that have enjoyed the benefits of the water that would disagree with you.

  5. Very interesting article, I just bought one for myself as I have arthritis. The pain from arthritis is so bad that sometimes I can’t sleep, even with pain killers. I think I am heading in the right direction.

    • Hi Taras:

I used to suffer a great deal from arthritis and the water cleared it up. Let us know after a few weeks how your are doing.

  6. I have been drinking only for one day and pain is gone, unbelievable. Not all pain, some pain still be in joints all over the body, but that one, which was not letting me sleep for two weeks gone. I have a headache, just like subscribed in article, but it’s nothing compare to what I had in my leg 24 hours ago. I am glad I find the solution to my problem, and I am only started. Thank’s God for this discovery.

    • Hi Taras:

Thanks for reporting back. It’s great to hear that you are experiencing relief from your arthritic pain.

I assume you have a headache because your body is detoxing from drinking the water. That means you are probably drinking too much water, or water that is too strong, or more specifically, more alklaline than your body is accustomed to. You may want to back off a bit in either volume or strength of the pH level of the water to give your body a chance to adjust. If you keep going, it is generally expected that your kidneys will be able to catch up and process the toxins effectively in about three days. I say generally, because everyone’s bodies react differently. If the detox symptoms persist, consult your primary health care giver.

  7. We have had a machine since the end of November. In the first 2 months of drinking the water, my husband’s very high triglycerides dropped 500 points. Not to mention that he has also lost a few pounds. I, on the other hand, the skeptic, have terrible arthritis. I have had both knees replaced and one hip. I will admit I have not been drinking the water. After reading the testimonies on this sight, I vowed to myself that I will do it. How long does it usually take to see a difference. Someone mentioned a “trial period” I really am hoping that someone will say it takes a very short time. I am too young to feel this old!

  8. i bought a top of the range ionizer 3 weeks back and got my uric acid for gout results. The blood test was taken after 6 days of drinking 3 litres a day. The results showed 3.7 UA. This is lower than normal level. For a gout sufferer the level is usually above 7. I am not sure if it is the water, as this was also my first uric acid blood test. The doctor told me that my uric acid is low because I have been taking Alluporin, which I had not been prescribed yet and he had forgot. When I told him this he was confused at the blood results. Something good must be happening, but still very unsure. Time will tell

    • Hi Jack:

Thanks for your testimonial. Congratulations on your excellent results. I’m sure all of our readers will appreciate the fact that you have shared your experience.

I have talked to a number of people that have had good rusults when they started drinking alkaline water or changing to an alkaline diet. I prefer the use of alkaline water and and alkaline diet. Doing one without the other is a bit self-defeating.

Please keep your doctor and us informed of your progress. Our medical profession needs to learn from us because they don’t have scientific studies to draw upon or pharmaceutical sales reps pushing the products.

I will post your testimonial in the Testimonial Section under Alkaline Water in the Articles Section…seems like a lot of work to get their but it’s easy

  9. Hi Rob,

I was always sceptical of alkaline water because when it hits the acidic environment of the stomach it will be changed. As well researchers say that our body mechanism balances the blood and fluids out to a normal PH range for us.

What input can you give. I am starting to get arthritic pains especially in my fingers. Can reduce using MSM, Glucosamine and chondroitin but you seem to have found gd results with the water.

    • Hi Greg:

When any alkaline substance enters the stomach, the cell in the walls of the stomach will immediately start producing HCl (Hydrochloric Acid) so that the contents of the stomach can be broken down. As HCl is created, the byproduct that is automatically created is a bicarbonate, which enters the small intestine. Everything that enters the small intestine must be alkaline. So, the more alkaline the diet, the more alkaline bicarbonates are created. It is one extra step than most people think about, but it is a necessary step.

From my personal testing, I believe that alkaline water bypasses the stomach very rapidly. My reasoning is that I can drink 48 oz of alkaline water with no discomfort at all and no feeling of bloating. When I drink 48 oz of tap or bottled water, I feel very bloated for about 40 minutes. I have tried this same test on many friends and they all experience the same symptoms.

The researchers are correct that the blood will adjust the pH level if things get out of line. What happens is that the blood will typically steal calcium or magnesium from bones etc or even iodine from the thyroid to raise the pH level in the blood. The result is extremely harmful to the body over time. It is better to eat an alkaline diet or drink alkaline liquids so that the body and its fluids can maintain a natural homeostasis without disruption.

From my own personal experience and from having spoken with hundreds of other people suffering from arthritis, I willingly give a full endorsement to the benefits of ionized water. You can also achieve the same results from an alkaline diet, but it is much more difficult to achieve.

Before I started drinking the water, I found that taking Glucosamine or chondroitin didn’t help me at all.

  10. Robert O. Young wrote about this regarding alkaline and stomach acid. I noticed Rob even posted an aticle about this:
“The stomach will always produce sodium bicarbonate to alkalize the food we eat or the liquids we drink to prepare the food and drink for biological transformation into stem cells in the crypts of the small intestine. The more acidic the food or drink the more sodium bicarbonate will be produced to buffer the acids of the food or drink. This of course leaves you with a belly full of acid which leads to all sorts of stomach disorders including the acidifying of the blood and then tissues.

The stomach does not need to produce any sodium bicarbonate when we are eating or drinking alkalizing foods or alkaline drinks, including electron rich alkaline water.”

This last sentence is very interesting

    • Hi Dan:

Someday, people are going to pay attention to what people like Rob Young and Sang Whang are preaching. In the meantime, we will continue to see more and more cases of acid reflux, arthritis, Type II Diabetes, and cancer.

  11. I had a nutritionist sell me “AlkaLife” water which is supposedly Alkaline water. I was told to put 4 drops of this daily into 8 ounces of drinking water twice per day which I have done but my arthritis is not any better. I just found out I have not switched to an Alkaline diet but now that I realize the importance of it plan on doing that right away. I wonder if the “Alkalife” water will do the same at the Ionized water systems.

    • Hi George:

Alkalife water that you refer to is is actually mineral drops that you squirt into water which provide natural ionization. To the best of my knowledge, Sang Whang was the man that first recommended the drops and sold them over the internet. Sadly, Sang has passed away. The Alkalife pills are filled with sodium bicarbonate which is commonly known as baking soda…in expensive packaging.

You mentioned that you are not getting positve results in regards to your arthritis with the drops. I think you would get positive results with a water ionizer….I certainly did and I have talked to hundreds of others who have experienced relief from arthritis after using a water ionizer. For lack of a better expanation, you might want to think of the drops as a “low dose” form of a natural water ionizer.

Absolutely everyone benefist from an alkaline diet.

I would start by trying to slowly (or quickly if you are a better man than me) convert to an alkaline diet. An alkaline diet will go a long way if not all the way to helping your body to become alkaline. When that happens, you will likely find your arthritis improves or is eliminated. I would continue taking the drops. If you are not getting any relief for your arthritis, I would then consider a water ionizer.

      • Dear Rob & George too!

Thanks for the posts. I tried baking soda too – half a tsp in water in the morning and evening. But they did not produce any noticeable results. I had many diabetic neuropathic issues including dull tooth pain, finger joint aches, weak gums, etc. When I switched to the ionizer just a few days ago, I had this incredible experience. Within two days, all the aches and pains eased off considerably and there has been this ‘softening effect’ all over like some indescribable serenity has descended. I could even walk barefooted on the marble floor of my apartment which I found hard to do before that. What a blessing this is to me as I’ve been a type2 diabetic for 14 years.

Most dramatic of all was the sudden onset of this trembling, cold sweating effect toward the evening of the first day, signalling the start of a hypoglycemic event, which is something that is very unusual for me. I’ve been struggling to keep my glucose numbers down. Hopefully, I’ll be able to flush the Mets and Clamides down the toilet soon! Of course, the therapy came at a price – thankfully just the Herx effects only – dull headache, tummy upset, intestinal rumblings and this very intense sleepy feeling in the later part of the evening – kept nodding off in front of the PC screen! I am grateful that the toothache has virtually disappeared and the gum is now strong again and that tooth brushing is kind of brisk and even fun to do. Goes to show how harmful SYSTEMIC acidity is for the health of the body.

        Keep up the wonderful work/blog

        • Hi Cjuan:

Wow…talk about an endorsement for ionized water. You may want to start working on your diet as well as a proper diet can also produce similar affects. If people would pay attention to what they drink and eat, the cost to our medical system would drop dramatically.

  12. Thanks for the response Rob. I actually started a true Alkaline diet today and reduced my pain by 40-45%! I am still interested in a water iodizer and I visited IonWays as you suggested but was not sure what unit would be best for me. I emailed the company but am yet to hear back from them. Any idea what would be best with all the choices out there?

    • Hi George:

If you want to get a water ionizer, check out

My wife owns the company and offers machines for half price to cancer patients or to anyone that has another debilitating disease. She likes to help others and I like the feedback from people who have benefitted from the water….and then I write about it on my blog so everyone can learn.

  13. Thanks Rob, I visited the site and emailed them from the site to see if someone will get back with me and assist me in determining a good system for me.

    • Hi George:

It is a holiday long weekend in Canada so you may not hear from them until Tuesday.

  14. I’m already feeling some changes! I started and stuck to an Alkaline diet yesterday for the first time in my life. I also drank a lot of water after reading “Your Body’s Many Cries For Water”. My chronic pain diminished by a good 50% by this morning and I started having dull headaches last night which are still with me this morning and I never get! I hope this is truly positive changes that are taking place!

    • Hi George:

      Congratulations on the positive changes.

Alkaline is alkaline. That means you can get the benefits from alkaline food and/or water. I suspect that the headaches are occuring as your body has started to naturally detox. That means that the poisons stored in your fat cells will be releasing into your blood stream. The toxins release faster than your kidneys can process and vacate them. When people start detoxing with an alkaline diet, they often experience headaches and even mild fu symptoms for 3 or perhaps even 4 days. It takes the 3-4 days for your kidneys to catch up.

I’m enjoying your comments and I imagine others are as well. Please let us know you you make as you go.

  15. Hi, I bought this water alkaline ionizer as a new years gift for myself. And also I was so impressed with the demo of the sales person who came over to the house. I was a healthy person. I take care of myself. I go to the gym regularly and keep a healthy diet so I thought an ionized water would be a great addition to my healthy lifestyle. First few weeks of drinking ionized water seems fine so I thought I am healthy enough to experience a dramatic effect. In about 3-4 weeks of drinking ionized water when I experienced a dull pain in my left knee. So I just ignored it and feeling confident that this is just some sort of muscle spasm and that the ionized water will fix it. I religiously filled myself with this alkaline water but then the pain keeps on getting worse. I have to rub a painkiller cream so that I can sleep. I went to the doctor and he said it is osteoarthritis. What happened to the promise of the ionized water? I would not blame the water for the development of the osteoarthritis because I may have it before drinking this water. What frustrates me is instead of fixing it, I am very positive that it was a contributing factor for making it worse. I called up the salesperson and she said it will get better in time. Duh? Am I going expect miracles here? One of the promises of ionized water is it relieves pain. What??? So far in my experience — IT IS A PAIN INDUCER NOT RELIEVER. I am already semi-disabled… pain is unbearable since I refuse to take medication yet. By the way, I started drinking ionized water 2 months ago and see what it did for me. I still plan to continue drinking alkaline water for another month to see if there would be changes for the better. If not, a lawsuit is in order. My case? a marketing scam.
