Antioxidant Filters: A Star Is Born

The sudden new interest in Antioxidant Filters reminds me of an actor or musician that seems to come out of nowhere to be a star. How often have we seen a new star suddenly appear who captures the attention of the media and the public? When the star in interviewed, we discover that the performer has been working away at their trade for years.

The elevation of a performer from near obscurity to star status is usually a break through song or screen performance that forces people to take notice.

The free hydrogen technology behind the Antioxidant Filters has been labouring along in near obscurity for ten years. The technology was first introduced ten years ago in the form of a hydrogen stick ten years ago by Dr. Hayashi. The selling price on the hydrogen sticks has been $79 and they have become more and more popular in the last couple of year as people have become aware that they do work to a limited extent.

So why are Antioxidant Filters suddenly bursting on to the scene. The answer comes in four parts.

Convenience:

While hydrogen sticks work to a limited extent, they are a nuisance to work with. You have to stir the sticks around in a glass of water or shake them in a bottle of water for a couple of minutes or let the sticks sit in the water for about 15 minutes. When the stick is finished mineralizing the water, you end up with about 8 to 12 ounces of water. It all seems like a lot of work for one small bottle of water. As a result, most people have chosen to drink bottled water instead.

The Antioxidant Filters hook up to your tap like a regular water ionizer. Water is fed to the Antioxidant Filter using the same type of diverter valve that water ionizers use. While water ionizers use electricity to ionize the water, Antioxidant Filters run water through a magnesium media to achieve the the level of ionization required to provide the same health benefits as those produced by water ionizers.

Effectiveness:

Antioxidant Filters work. My independent comparison testing indicates that the Antioxidant Filters produce virtually the same results for pH and ORP that the other lead brands produce when it comes to drinking water. My test results have been duplicated by many other people that I trust who have also received test machines. Hydrogen sticks work to a limited extent but I would never use them as a permanent drinking water solution.

Purification:

Water ionizers don’t purify the source water other than to remove most of the chlorine from the water. Hydrogen sticks don’t purify the source water at all. The new Antioxidant Filters purify the water. Of the two units that I’m aware of, the Alkastream has provided independent lab test results that demonstrate outstanding filtration characteristics. The Revolutionizer has not provided test results yet.

Cost:

Most water ionizers have been selling in the price range of $2,000 to $4,000. Unless a person attaches a very priority to the health needs, the high cost of water ionizers make them unaffordable. The hydrogen sticks only cost $79, so they are affordable to virtually everyone, but they are not perceived as good value because of the inconvenience factor and the lack of purification, and perhaps fear of the unknown when it comes to the contents of the sticks. At a price of $395, the Antioxidant Filters are affordable to virtually everyone and they will produce up to 1,300 gallons of purified, ionized drinking water for less than 8 cents a gallon.

Summary:

The Antioxidant Filters work, they are affordable, they are convenient, and we know what is in them. The world’s leading authority on ionized water has documented how and why they work. The news is awesome for consumers, which is why Antioxidant Filters will be a star.

  1. Hi Rob.
Great news that there is something as good or better as water ionizers and less expensive.I would like to know where can read e see test of this filters..IS there any in youtube or site.?I also would be interested to know if any of those are selled in Europe, in my case would be nice if they sell it here in Portugal.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

    Miguel

    • Hi Miguel:

The antioxidant filters are not necessarily better…they are different. The antioxidant filters are FILTERS first and foremost, while the water ionizers don’t filter anything other than large particles of sediment and chlorine. The Antioxidant filters do ionize the water, but they don’t produce a wide spectrum of pH levels. The antioxidant filter produce a pH of 9.5 to 10.2 at my lab (depending upon the flow rate of the water). I have noticed that the pH drops slightly over the use of the filter, which is not a bad thing at all.

I understand that the Alkastream will be available in Europe very soon. You can contact http://www.alkastream.com.au in Australia for details, as they have the world wide marketing rights.

  2. Is it already available in Europe, Italy

    • Hi Norma:

The Alkastream in available in Europe through a distributor in Germany. If you visit http://www.alkastream.com and click on the German flag, you will move directly to their website.

  3. Hi Rob, Your articles and gracious responses have been a tremendous blessing to me – and refreshing, after spending many hours checking out the EWI sites with their comparisons that leave out competitors and end up promoting on particular brand.

Because the PH level drops over time, do you buy a completely new filter? And are there any good quality whole house filters if we are wanting to avoid the chlorine, (I’m not worried about an EWI machine… I just want pure water in the kitchen sink and shower heads).

    With appreciation, Paul Coneff

    • Hi Paul:

      Thanks for the kind words.

You have mentioned two concerns including pure drinking water for your kitchen and a whole house system to remove chlorine from your showers.

Whole House System/Chlorine in Shower Water

In has become much more affordable to remove chlorine from the entire house thanks to the internet. I would recommend a two canister big blue system. Here is the first link the popped up on a search: http://www.waterfilterdepot.com/catalog/15. I don’t know the company, but big blue systems are pretty generic so the cost will be a good example of what is out there. The double canister system in the middle picture removes sediment, chlorine, and chloramines and sells for $279. I didn’t spend time to see if all the connectors are included or not, but it gives you a place to start.

An alternative solution is to go to Home Depot or a similar store and buy shower filters. They typically cost abot $40 and last one year. They are simple to install and you can buy replacement filters for them. The shower filters are only for showers of course and don’t help bath water or laundry water.

      Clean Drinking Water

If you install a big blue system for the whole house, you will have taken care of sediment and the taste and odor issues connected to the presence of chlorine.

If you want a more comprehensive solution for drinking water, you can install a Reverse Osmosis system under your kitchen sink. They range in price from $200 and up. I would stick to an American made system with WQA Gold Seal certification to insure the quality…it is your drinking water after all. You will pay more for a higher quality system but it is worth it imo.

If you install a RO system, make should that everyone drinking the water takes some sort of CalMag (calcium and magnesium) supplement because the RO water is acidic and removes essential minerals from the water that your body would otherwise absorb from the water. Make sure that you don’t let a RO sales person talk you into adding a Calcite or Corosex remineralization filter. The remin filters get used up quickly due to the aggressive nature of the acidic water and they can lead to kidney stones. The use of Calcite or Corosex fitlers in conjunction with RO water can lead to the formation of kidney stones and you don’t want to go there.

If you want to drink the best possible water, keep watching my blog. I have been testing a product from the USA for several months that is an RO system with a kick ass remin filter that doesn’t cause health issues. As soon as the company releases the product, I will be writing about it.

  4. Thanks for giving a quick response. And I will be watching your blog. We are planning on using the Alkastream for drinking water. And going with the shower head filters for now, staying within our
    budget.

Will the new RO system be something that is separate/different from what Alkastream does? Or will it compliment Alkastream?

I’ve already been sending out links to your website. I figure that I can save a lot of people, a lot of hours I invested, trying to find a site that was not a ‘front’ for one particular brand… and in particular your test with the different units, as well as highlighting the different uses for the alkaline water that is natural and artificial.

Also appreciate the way you engage, navigate and respect the value of Kangen fans sharing the blessings of alkaline water, while standing firm on the incredibly high cost of the units… the irony is that if they were focusing on people getting healthier, instead of money, they would most likely quadruple their sales and make even more money because it would be affordable.

Looking forward to continuing to discover and learn about the best water systems for our bodies and home.

    • Hi Paul:

The new RO system will clean the water and provide powerful remineralization. It will work on its own and will be a massive upgrade to the Alkastream in terms of providing pure water. It is also an upgrade from a remineralizing perspective and the remineralization filters lasts for two years. It will be equipped with a “chloramine removing” second pre-filter so that it there won’t be any degradation of the membrane itself regardless of the source water. It will have a tap available as an accessory that will allow for adjusting the pH. It has an amazing remin filter that last two years and won’t cause kidney stones or any other problems associated with too much calcium or magnesium in the system.

The dealers have decided to sell the unit for $895. The same basic unit sold in a “prettier” package has been sold by a small group of dealers at a price of more than $3,400 for the past 8 years. When I met the manufacturer, I told him that if he dropped the price so that it would become affordable for the public, I would support it on my blog. I also told him that I would introduce him to ethical dealers all over North America who would help him sell his product.

I have never recommended any specific brand on my blog because no single machine performs that best in all source water condtions. I may have to change my stance on recommendations because the new machine really does it all when it comes to drinking water. I have been searching for years for a solution that would make water pure and then remineralize it so that it could safely become ionized and alkaline. I finally found a solution that is affordable. As soon as people try the machine, I think there will be a strong demand for the product. Hopefully, other companies will respond to the challenge and come out with similar products so that the competition will drive prices down even further.

Thanks for the mention about my dealings with Kangen people. You nailed it when you talked about my appreciation and respect for the hard work the dealers put in and my disdain for the pricing structure. I agree with you completely that Enagic/Kangen would be unstoppable if they made their machines more affordable.

  5. Sounds great! Do you have any idea how long it will be before it is introduced?

If it is going to be 6-12 months I would probably by Alkastream now, instead of waiting, because I know these things take time… I’ve signed up for your newsletter as well. Sincerely, Paul

  6. I will be waiting and watching so I can check out their website and the information you have on it. Thanks so much for making this great opportunity for alkaline water easier to understand, walking us through the maze.
