Our medical system is a mess.  The costs are out of control, even here in Canada.  There are not enough doctors, and the ones that are available are not trained in educating their patients about how to get and stay healthy.  I have too much respect for doctors to trash talk them, but let’s face the facts, and tell it like it is: medical doctors are in the repair and maintenance business, not the health care business.

Sorry for the long introduction, but it is really important that people understand that the frustrations that they are feeling towards the medical community should not be directed towards medical doctors.  We should not be blaming physicians for the fact that they don’t receive the proper training on how to help people become and stay healthy.   We all know who should be blamed, but let’s leave that for another day.  Except in specific situations, prescription drugs are not helping us.  In fact, as a society, our reliance upon prescription drugs instead of leading healthy lives is a disgrace.  

There is no use in complaining about something unless you can propose a solution.  The solution for those that who are not finding workable solutions to their health issues is naturopathic doctors!

Why do I think the solution is naturopathic doctors?  My first response would be to simply point to the fact that I see the evidence over and over again.  However, that would not be good enough for me, if I were reading this article.  So, here is some background into the requirements to become a Naturopathic doctor:

• completion of a Bachelor’s degree before admission
• 4 year program
• 1,200 hours of clinical experience
• 3,000 hours of classroom training
• Three areas of study including: biomedical sciences, clinical sciences, and naturopathic therapeutics

 If you compare the training with that of a General Practitioners (GP), you will begin to understand why the Province of British Columbia gave NDs the same rights as GPs to prescribe medicine and perform minor surgeries in April 2009.  The province of Ontario gave NDs the same rights in December 2009.  

The reason that I’m a huge fan of NDs has nothing to do with the amount of formal training they receive, it is the training itself.  NDs have never been exposed to, or influenced by, the pharmaceutical industry.  As a result, ND’s have had to learn how to diagnose and cure their patients, rather than writing endless prescriptions to manage the symptoms.   Now that is a word (CURE) that will throw fear into the hearts of the pharmaceutical companies.

I live in the province (a province is similar to a State) of Ontario.  For those that are not familiar with Canada, Toronto, Ontario is about 24 miles away from Buffalo, New York as the crow flies, or a two hour drive around Lake Ontario.  We have a population of 12 million people in our province, and our 900 Naturopathic Doctors see over 1 million patients per year.  That may not appear to be a huge number, but when you consider that patients in Ontario have to pay about $125 per hour to see a Naturopathic Doctor while they can see Medical Doctors for free, the math is rather astounding. 

Why would people pay so much to see a Naturopath when they can see a MD for free?  The answer lies in the fact that the NDs are providing solutions that the patients are not receiving from MDs.  Naturopathic Doctors study how and why the human body works, and how to help the body cure (there’s that dangerous CURE word again) itself.

Will visiting a Naturopathic Doctor guarantee a cure?  Nobody can guarantee anything when it comes to health, but for my money, a visit to a Naturopathic Doctor is the best money you can possibly spend if you are having physical problems.  For those of you who are more proactive with your health, a visit to a Naturopathic Doctor before you get sick is a wise investment in your future.  There is an old saying that goes something along the lines of “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. 

I’m a water guy.  So what does this article have to do with water?  Nothing, so far, but it is really easy to make the connection.  Naturopathic Doctors understand the importance of proper hydration in terms of helping the body heal itself and maintain a healthy homeostasis.  Naturopathic Doctors also understand the importance of keeping your body alkaline.  When I was in the water ionizer business, it was always easy to talk to Naturopathic Doctors about alkaline ionized water because they “get it” right away.  The relationships that I formed with NDs at that time allowed me to see what they do, which is the reason I have such great respect for them.

“I have had Parkinson’s for about 8 years, and the Disease has steadily progressed. A friend offered me a sample of alkaline ionized water in April of 2009, after telling me that there was evidence that Parkinson’s patients had been helped by the water. I liked the taste and texture, so I began to drink it every day.
Prior to drinking the water, I was a member of a bowling team. I was not very good, but I enjoyed it. I was always worried about falling as I had been experiencing dizzy spells and had problems with my coordination. I never fell but there were plenty of times that I thought I would.
Once I began to drink ionized water, I noticed positive changes. It was hard for me to believe, because I have had the disease for so long, but my symptoms began to improve. I finished the bowling season in May, and my ability to move around with confidence improved each week. My score didn’t improve much, but my enjoyment of the game increased. I found myself able to move to the ball return and deliver the ball with confidence. That may not sound like a big thing to people who don’t suffer from Parkinson’s, but it made a huge difference to me.
I recently purchased my own water ionizer for convenience, and to take advantage of the water being as fresh as possible. It is important to drink the water fresh, as the ORP is the most effective when the water first comes out of the machine. You learn this stuff as you go.
Recently I visited my doctor at the University of Miami. I told him of the positive developments once I started drinking the water. He told me that if I wasn’t his patient, he would have a hard time diagnosing me with Parkinson’s. He said that I was certainly no longer the typical Parkinson’s patient. He requested that I send him a link about the water and of course I obliged.
Every day I seem to be improving. My hope in sharing this letter is that others may experience similar improvements, and of their symptoms and the quality of life for them will improve like mine.”

I would like to thank the lady from Florida for sharing her story. It is great to hear every success story, and hopefully this forum will allow others to learn from her experience.
This story provides yet another example of a physician learning about the benefits of the water from a patient. While many doctors choose not to listen to anyone except their pharmaceutical reps, it is encouraging that some are willing to listen and learn. I believe that it is inevitable that doctors will learn more and more about the water as the evidence of the benefits can’t be ignored. Doctors may never be able to prescribe the water due to potential repercussions from the College of Physicians, but that doesn’t prevent a physician from suggesting that their patients do some independent research.
Don’t be afraid to tell your physician your story. The more the doctors hear from us, the more likely they will be to take the time to learn. One way or another, the word will spread over time, but it would sure help if the people that we trust with our most private issues would also trust us.

It is estimated that nearly 8% of the Canadian and American population (about 26 million people) have diabetes, of which 90% is of the Type 2 variety. The number of cases doubled between 1990 and 2005, and the Centre for Disease Control has called the increase in numbers an epidemic. No kidding!

Historically, Type 2 Diabetes has been considered a disease of adults, but the exploding rates of obesity in our youth has corresponded with an alarming increase in the disease in our children. I feel a McDonalds rant coming on, but lets keep going.

Diabetes is determined by measuring the amount of glucose (sugar) in the blood, and it is expressed in millimoles per litre (mmol/l). Normally blood glucose levels stay within narrow limits throughout the day: 4 to 8mmol/l. But they are higher after meals and usually lowest in the morning. Diabetes occurs when the blood sugar level moves outside these limits on a sustained basis. As people get older, glucose levels typically tend to edge towards the upper end of the scale.

There are a couple of ways to deal with Type 2 Diabetes. Of course, one is the product of the pharmaceutical world, and the other is completely under your control. Guess which one I prefer? I can provide all kinds of information on Type 2 Diabetes, but you can find more information than you can ever possibly read on the internet. With that in mind it’s time for a quick story.

Robert, the individual in this story has a family history of Type 2 diabetes that begins at approximately age 60. Mom and Dad, aunts and uncles all got Type 2 diabetes around age 60. So, it wasn’t much of a surprise for this particular gentleman when his doctor informed him that he had developed Type 2 Diabetes at age 59.

His physician informed him that his glucose (blood sugar level) had exceeded 12, and that it was time to do something about it. The doctor correctly informed the gentleman that he could get his blood sugar level down with a combination of a better diet and some exercise… my kind of doctor!

There is nothing like being told you have a disease by your physician to get your attention. Robert immediately started to change his diet with the focus on cutting out carbs. If you have been through this, you will know that it isn’t fun, but you do what you have to do, or you could ultimately face taking insulin for the rest of your life.

Despite being able to curb the carbs, and paying more attention to his lifestyle, Robert found that his glucose level remained in the 12 to 14+ range over a period of more than a year. His physician recommended a natural remedy (this doctor is sounding better all the time) and said that if the remedy didn’t work, the patient would have to consider taking the insulin pills.

At the same time that Robert began to take the natural remedy, he also started drinking ionized water. He informed his physician that he had been researching the water, and the doctor said he would be very interested in the results (a doctor with an open mind!).

The results were dramatic. Within two and one half weeks, the patient’s glucose level was down to 8. Robert was very pleased with the turn of events after fighting unsuccessfully with the disease for more than a year. Robert couldn’t help but wonder if the results were due to the remedy, or the water, or a combination of both. To test the results, he stopped taking the natural remedy recommended by the doctor. It is now four months later and Robert’s glucose levels remain at 8.

The physician was very impressed, which I find really encouraging. The medical profession may handcuff the doctors, but it is only a matter of time before they will have to face the reality that the water removes acid and allows the body to heal itself… naturally.

President Nixon followed through on his promise and signed the National Cancer Act on December 23, 1971. What started out as a noble cause has obviously lost its focus over the years.

In 1971, the medical community didn’t have a cure for cancer. They had three strategies for dealing with cancer, which included “slashing, burning, and poisoning”. You will never hear a doctor refer to surgery as slashing, or radiation as burning, or chemotherapy as poisoning, but that is exactly what each of the medical terms means in layman’s terms.

In 2009, after 38 years of research by the best scientific minds in the world, that have been funded by hundreds of billions of dollars, doctors still slash and burn and poison… oh excuse me… perform surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy.

I don’t want to take the negative approach and talk about money and conspiracies. We all know about that stuff. What is obvious is that governments, and the medical community, and the pharmaceutical industry are not going to provide the answers. What I do want to talk about is what we can do about cancer.

In Canada and the United States, it is illegal to practice medicine without a license. The powers that control the industry have made it virtually impossible for our physicians to recommend any product if it hasn’t been approved by the FDA or Health Canada. The College of Physicians has the right, and exercises its right, to sanction physicians for any behavior that exceeds its guidelines. As a result, our physicians, who are in a position to listen to their patients and be part of the solution, have to remain detached.

Many doctors are aware of the ability of alkaline ionized water to eliminate acid from the body, which in turn allows that body to heal itself. These doctors have all seen the results first hand. Yet, they won’t recommend the water, and they won’t write review papers. You can’t blame the doctors. They are not willing to risk their livelihood. They have worked hard to become physicians and they need to protect their careers and their families, just like anyone else.

Doctors are not allowed to help us, as the system is not going to change. It’s not right, but it is reality. So, what else can we do?

The water ionizer companies deal with clients everyday that have cancer. They know that their machines are saving lives of cancer patients that have previously been told by physicians that they have terminal cancer. Unfortunately, the companies are not allowed to post testimonials because they can be charged with practicing medicine without a license. In fact, the water ionizer manufacturers and importers choose to continue to run under the radar. Why would they choose this path? They lay low because the industry is profitable, and they don’t want to upset the pharmaceutical companies. Why do they fear the pharmaceutical companies? The pharmaceutical companies have astonishing wealth and connections, and can crush the water ionizer manufacturers if they are seen as a threat. How do I know this? I talk to them. So, don’t look to the water ionizer manufacturers to spread the word.

We are beginning to see Dealers that represent products of the various water ionizer companies post testimonials on their sites. The Dealers recognize the value of the testimonials in regards to adding credibility to their sales strategy. However, the Dealers are unaware of the consequences of their actions, and will likely be forced to remove the testimonials as awareness of the units become more widespread.

It seems to me that it will be up to individuals who have experienced the water themselves to spread the word. While the medical system is strictly governed, the good news is that freedom of speech still exists. However, freedom of speech must be accomplished without being attached to business interests. This blog offers me the opportunity to do my part. I invite you to join me in helping spread the word. What started out as a simple blog to share my story about how alkaline ionized water eliminated my acid reflux and arthritis, has evolved into something much more important than I ever imagined. It seems the blog has inspired others to share their own personal stories about how the water has helped them with their own personal situations. I believe that those who share their stories are providing an invaluable service, as tens of thousands and sometimes even millions of others are looking for information about the same diseases. Real stories from real people provide information and hope for those that don’t know where to turn, after the medical and pharmaceutical systems have let them down. I’m not a doctor basher. Doctors provide a valuable service, but our current social structure is flawed and doctors are left as the scapegoat. It is not the fault of the doctors that they have not been trained to help people learn how to become, or stay healthy.

When my wife first introduced me to the water, I couldn’t have been more skeptical. I would have bet 1,000 to 1 odds against the water helping me at all. Imagine my surprise when my acid reflux disappeared within a week, and my osteoarthritis disappeared in a couple of weeks. How could that be? I had been taking pills and a topical transdermal NSAID for my arthritis for several years, and pills for my acid reflux for a longer period. The medications only masked the problem and my physician indicated that I would be on medications for the problems for the rest of my life. How could something as simple as water fix the problems in weeks?

I have come to realize that each one of us owns and operates the most sophisticated machine in the world. That machine is your body. No amount of money or scientific knowledge can produce anything that comes close to the miracle of your body. So, why do we treat our cars better that our own body? We put the proper fuel and lubricants into our cars, but we neglect and often abuse our most precious asset.

It appears that most of the people in our society have very little interest in their health as long as they believe they are healthy. It is only when they begin to experience problems themselves, or if a loved one becomes ill, that they begin to consider the consequences of what they are doing to their bodies. In Canada, the situation is made worse by the fact that Canadians believe that the medical system will take care of us them when we do become ill. It is easy to understand the frustration of a patient when their doctor tells them the equivalent of “it sucks to be you”, because they are unable to provide anything more than a prescription to control the pain or the symptoms. My own physician gave me the bad news many years ago that I would have acid reflux and it was not going away. The good news was that “we” could manage the problem with prescription drugs. To this day, I’m still trying to figure out the good news part of the equation.

When the process was repeated for my arthritis, I was angry because the arthritis was having a significant impact on my life. The only thing the medical community could offer was “take one of these pills in the morning and one at night, and “we” can manage the problem. He also told me that “we’ would have to monitor the situation, as the drugs would probably damage my gastrointestinal tract over time. Great!

When the doctor later told me that I should get started with a third prescription to reduce my cholesterol levels, I refused. I would like to tell you that I immediately started to eat better, but I didn’t. I have to give all the credit to my wife, as she kept researching, and trying things that might help me. Eventually she came upon the “miracle water”. I haven’t had to take pills for anything since I started drinking the water more than a year ago.

I spend a lot of time these days researching and learning about water. I talk to companies that make filters, water softeners, reverse osmosis machines, and of course water ionizers. I also spend time talking to people who drink alkaline ionized water. At first, I was surprised how many people were telling me that the water improved or changed their lives, because I thought I was the only one. What has become clear after many conversations is that a significant percentage of people that drink the water experience rapid relief from acid reflux and arthritis. Also surprising to me initially was how many people experienced significant weight loss over a few months, without dieting. The weight loss always came as an unexpected bonus, because nobody started on the water trying to lose weight. I was also surprised by how many people (women in particular) had experienced relief from constipation and bloating. Many people that I have talk to feel they have more energy and they experience less pain. While any of the above would be reason enough to want drink the water, the benefits go much deeper.

Disease manifests itself in a wide spectrum of ways. Clearing up acid reflux is great, but it pales in comparison to beating cancer. I have spoken to three different people since I started this blog that have told me how they beat cancer with the water. The liver and prostate cancer stories have already been written can be reviewed at this site. The breast cancer story will be available as soon as I confirm all the facts. It is critical to me that that the stories can be verified. I hope to be able to present dozens or perhaps hundreds of articles on cancer alone over time.

I have also interviewed people who have reduced or eliminated their Type 2 diabetes medications. There are more than twenty million people in Canada and the United States with Type 2 diabetes. Twenty million! Type 2 diabetes is reaching epidemic status and nobody seems to care unless they have the disease themselves. There is “real” good news in regards to Type 2 diabetes, as it can be controlled and eliminated with diet, a little bit of exercise, and reducing stress. Stress plays a significant role in our health and it is overlooked by virtually everyone. I expect that the water will play a significant role in reducing diabetes in our society, as virtually every brand of water ionizer (except the expensive Multi Level Marketing units) can be purchased for less than the annual cost of controlling a simple case of diabetes. I believe it is only a matter of time until the insurance companies get involved as a cost saving measure.

I have listened to stories about success with skin diseases like eczema, psoriasis, athlete’s foot, and fungus when acid water is applied to the skin. Acid water is produced as a bi-product when a water ionizer machine creates alkaline water for drinking.

I’m also receiving stories about the positive effect the water is having on digestive disorders such as IBS, colitis, and Crohn’s disease. The water also provides relief to many that suffer from constipation and bloating. Relief for arthritis and acid reflux typically occurs in days or a few weeks, but it seems that the digestive system disorders require a person to drink the water for about six months.

How can water do all this? Is this miracle water? The key to understanding why the water is so effective for such a wide variety of diseases is to realize that the water is not healing anything. The water is simply helping the body get rid of the excess acid that builds up over time. Your body does the rest if you give it a chance.

The human body can sustain an unbelievable amount of abuse in terms of improper diet, lack of exercise, lack of sleep, and stress. However, the body can only tolerate only so much abuse before it begins to break down. This is where alkaline ionized water comes into play.

The human body is a magnificent machine, but it is a machine. It needs fuel and it needs to eliminate the waste from fuel combustion, just like any other fuel driven machines. However, unlike other machines, your special machine has the ability to heal itself if it is properly maintained.

In the most simplistic description possible, the water ionizer splits stable water (water with no charge) into negatively charged alkaline water and positively charged acidic water. The negatively charged alkaline water helps the body eliminate the positively charged acid from your body. Once the body eliminates the acid, it can return to a slightly alkaline state, and the miracle that we call our body does the rest. That is why we see amazing results across such a wide spectrum of diseases. The body does the healing, not the water.

The human body is equipped to handle a diet of 80% alkaline and 20% acidic food or liquids. That means 80% green veggies and some fruits, and only 20% meat, sugar, flour, and pretty much all the things that most of us eat. While your body can digest acid foods, it was never meant to handle a diet of 97% acids.

Your body eliminates acid through the digestive system, primarily by means of urine and feces. We also sweat away a small amount of acid, and minute amounts simply by breathing.

When your body has to deal with more acid that it can eliminate by natural means, it will protect itself by surrounding the dangerous acidic cells with fat, and typically deposits them around the waistline or buttocks.

As we eat more fast foods, and perform less exercise, to potential of obesity and then degenerative diseases increases dramatically. As acid accumulates over time, it contributes to the deterioration of the immune system, and degenerative diseases like arthritis, Type 2 diabetes, and cancer begin to develop. The alarming rate of increase in childhood obesity and the near epidemic levels of Type 2 diabetes should be a wake up call to all of us.

Each and every one of us can take simple steps to give our body a chance to be healthy. We all experience the frustration of recognizing flaws in the system, but in this particular situation, you can make a positive contribution to your health.

Not everyone wants to share their stories for privacy reasons, which is perfectly understandable. Those that do share their stories have my deepest respect and gratitude, because they can educate and inspire others.

This is a real life love story of a woman that refused to let her husband’s prostate cancer destroy their lives. The couple had all the medical help you could possibly imagine, as you will see, but the medical community was simply not getting the job done. The wife refused to accept the medical prognosis. She researched and found alkaline ionized water, and made her skeptical husband drink the water faithfully every day. The husband beat prostate cancer, but the victory definitely belongs to them as a couple.

Prostate cancer is detected by a blood test which measures the level of PSA (prostate-specific antigen). PSA is a protein produced by the prostate, which is released into the bloodstream. When prostate cancer develops and grows, increased levels of PSA are released into the bloodstream. PSA levels under 5ng/ml are considered “normal”, between 5 and 10 are considered “intermediate”, and over 10 are considered “high”.

The husband’s PSA count remained at 45 in February 2009 despite the best efforts over an extended period of time by four of the leading oncologists in the world. The couple spared no effort or expense in their attempt to get rid of the cancer, including visits to meet and work with the leading physicians at both Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, and John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. When the primary oncologist on the case said that they would begin chemotherapy if the next round of tests didn’t improve, the wife took over. She researched many alternatives on the internet and decided that alkaline ionized water was the best course of action. Her research indicated that the water couldn’t hurt, and that there were many reports of the water helping with cancer.

The wife ordered a water ionizer and made her husband drink the water every day, despite being skeptical. When he returned for his next PSA test, the level had dropped to 18. The husband was so “stunned” by the results that he had an independent test done shortly afterwards. When the results came back from the independent test, the level had dropped to 13. The family was ecstatic of course. When the husband returned for his next test at the hospital, the PSA level had dropped to 5. The oncologist informed him that he was no longer considered a cancer patient, as his PSA level was considered “normal”.

The four oncologists involved with the case from the various hospitals all marveled at the “miracle”. The husband informed each of them that it was not a miracle at all. When asked to explain by the doctors what he meant, he told all of them that the only thing that he had changed in his life, was drinking the ionized water that his wife made him drink each day.

The husband asked each specialist to write a review of the case, but none of them would comply. Western medicine continues to ignore the growing number of cases where people have used alkaline ionized water to reduce the acid level in their bodies, so that the body can heal itself. The good news is that the husband no longer has cancer, and every case builds awareness of how water can play a key role in helping achieve and maintain good health.

I have a great deal of respect for the medical profession, because my father was a wonderful physician. However, I have come to learn over the years that western medicine doesn’t begin to have all the answers. In fact, I believe our medical system is failing badly in terms of providing health care through preventative medicine. Instead of launching into negative territory, I want to relate this wonderful story of a family physician that has made a difference.

A couple of months ago, a physician from Quebec ordered a water ionizer for his personal use after reading about the benefits of the water. Shortly thereafter, one of his patients called and purchased the same unit.

Fast forward to this past weekend and the physician contacted me in order to obtain another water ionizer unit for a relative that has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I began to explain to the doctor that the unit might offer some real hope based upon the personal stories that I have been involved with. The doctor politely indicated that he understood which I assume was to spare him the pain of listening to me. He then asked me if I remembered the patient that obtained the second unit a couple of months ago. I said I did, and then the doctor told me the following story.

It turns out that his patient had stage four liver cancer and the oncologist working on the case had informed the patient that there was nothing more that could be done. In fact, palliative care service had been applied for to assist the patient. If you have any experience with palliative care, you know exactly where this was heading.

The patient reported the news to his family physician, and inquired if the doctor was aware of anything that might give him hope. The doctor explained to the patient that he had been researching water ionizers on the internet and that the patient might want to do some research on his own. The doctor explained that he had learned from his research that there was reason to believe that the machines might be able to reduce acid levels in the body. He also explained that cancer thrives in an acidic environment, so anything that could help reduce acid levels might help. For professional reasons, the doctor left it at that, but he did tell his patient that he had ordered one of the machines for his own home. The cancer patient contacted me shortly afterward to order a water ionizer without ever mentioning his situation.

It turns out that over the past two months, the patient started feeling better and better. In fact, the patient had returned to working on his hobbies and had just returned from a vacation.

As the cancer had progressed, tests had shown that the patient’s liver enzyme count has increased as time went on. Since the patient started drinking the ionized water, the enzyme count has been dropping. The doctor informed me that both he and the patient are filled with hope, and that they were anxiously awaiting the results of a new MRI test that is scheduled in a couple of weeks.

The doctor also passed on to me that all the members of his family have now obtained water ionizers. That is not an endorsement of course, but it certainly sends a clear unspoken message.

I wish that I could use the physician’s name, as he is a hero in my eyes. Unfortunately, any mention of his personal information could pose a threat to the physician’s career. The College of Physicians would undoubtedly investigate this type of “unprofessional conduct”, despite the fact that the physician’s only involvement was to direct the patient to do his own research.

I have the urge to blast away at the medical profession for their archaic methods of dealing with the new awareness towards health care, but I would rather just end this on a happy note. Bravo doctor!

I had been suffering with osteoarthritis for years, and it was getting worse over time. I have been very active with sports all my life with sports, and I have owned a construction company for the last 19 years. By the spring of 2008, and age 51, I was no longer able to participate in sports and was unable to work with my crew of men. The bottom line was that I was becoming another one of the grumpy old men that we all know.

My physician indicated that I would have to deal with the pain for the rest of my life, but that “we” could manage the pain. In 2007, he began prescribing one 200 mg Arthrotec pill twice each day that I was taking in the morning and evening. Arthrotec is a “coated” Voltarin NSAID that is supposedly easier on the stomach. In addition, he also prescribed one 40 mg Pantoloc pill each day to assist with protecting my stomach. NSAIDS are brutal on the gastrointestinal tract, and to his credit, my physician was attempting to be cautious. What the physician didn’t tell me is that Pantoloc is a Calcium blocker and that it reduces the amount of acid in the stomach, which means that you can’t fully digest your food.

The prescriptions were able to dull the pain on a daily basis, but if I ever missed a pill, the pain would return immediately. Over time, the pain became worse, so I visited a chiropractor three times each week to help manage what was becoming a more and more debilitating problem. The chiropractor manipulations helped a bit, but the there was marginal success. I was spending 3 x $45 each week for the chiropractor plus paying for the pills. In total, I was spending about $700 per month for pain management and was not getting worse, instead of getting better.

Last spring, my wife Mary told me that she had found the answer to my arthritis. Sure honey! Sorry about being skeptical, but she has made a lot of those announcements over the years and we have a drawer full of failed attempts. It turns out she had attended a Multi-Level Marketing meeting where she watched a demonstration about alkaline ionized water. She was very excited about the water and told me that “we” were going to do this together. Oh yeah! I had zero interest in this latest attempt at the fountain of youth and good health, but how bad could drinking water be. Compared to all of the weird things she has made me eat over the years, water seemed like a breeze. Mary made me put away my pills and started to fill me up with water. Drinking water is not a lot of fun normally as it seems I get bloated after about one glass. The ionized water seemed to go down a lot easier than regular water and it seemed like I could drink a lot more, but maybe I was just caught up in ”taking one for the team”. The next day I had a big headache which was unusual. The headache continued the second day and I asked my wife if she was trying to kill me with the water. She said she has a headache as well, and suggested we call the water salesman. When we reached him by telephone, he was very happy as he said we were cleansing and detoxing. I could just see the guy dancing a little jig thinking about the commission he was going to make. He’s all happy and I have a head banger headache! I wanted to grab the guy by the throat! The good news is that he said to keep drinking the water and the headaches would go away… and they did.

I would have bet 1,000 to 1 odds that the alkaline ionized water wouldn’t work for me. I knew my wife meant well, but how could something as simple as ionized water be effective when my doctor and his medications, and chiropractor couldn’t help? Fortunately, I would have been wrong as the results were amazing. Not only did my arthritis go away and stay away, but my acid reflux problem that had been bothering me for about 15 years also disappeared.

Once we were through the trial process, my wife said we should purchase the unit that the water ionizer sales guy was selling. I agreed until I asked how much they cost. When I found out the cost was $4,000, I nearly flipped and I started researching on the internet. It turns out that all alkaline water ionizers work through simple electrolysis. There are lots of companies out there selling this type of product and it appears that you can purchase a very effective top of the line unit from one of several leading companies for about $2,000 if you don’t get involved with a Multi-Level Marketing program.

It is now 8 months later and I have not taken a pill since I started drinking the water. I returned to playing and coaching basketball, and now I can golf and play tennis again. The machine paid for itself in three months simply by eliminating prescriptions and chiropractor bills. The savings are good, but the real win is that it works! And the bonus is that my wife thinks I’m doing this all for her… Hehehe!
