I remember like it was yesterday watching Easy Rider with my high school friends and thinking that Hopper and Fonda were so cool. Just the mention of the name Dennis Hopper brings back so many memories. I will miss him.

I get frustrated when someone dies from a disease like prostate cancer because I believe whole heartedly that the death could have been avoided. If Hopper or his oncologist had been aware of how effective an alkaline diet or alkaline ionized water are in dealing with prostate cancer, I assume the man would still be alive today. This discussion is not limited to fatalities, as many radical procedures such as surgeries, radiation, and chemotherapy could be avoided if patients were made aware of the alternatives.

The pre-screen testing for prostate cancer is filled with folly. It is estimated that only one out of every 22 people who are informed that they have prostate cancer or are on ”watch” for prostate cancer ever develop the disease to a point where it could become life threatening. As a result, a tremendous amount of needless worry is created because of the screening process.

Typically, when someone in America has a PSA count of 1-5, they are considered normal or healthy. When the count moves between 6 and 10, the patient is put on “watch” for possible development of cancer.

There is a school of thought in the medical field that patients should not even be screened for elevated PSA levels because of the life altering shock that is felt by patients receiving the news. However, there are 27,000 deaths each year in the USA due to prostate cancer, and screening can help save lives.

The real issue is not so much whether the testing should be conducted (I would rather know about the possibility of cancer developing so that I could do something about it). The real issue is what to do about the news that you have prostate cancer, or a precursor for cancer.

I don’t pretend to be a physician or more specifically an oncologist, but I have spoken with several men that have reduced their PSA levels down to the normal range as soon as they began drinking alkaline ionized water. The PSA levels of the men were typically in the “watch” range of 5 to 10, but I have also communicated closely with men with significantly higher PSA levels that put them well into the “cancer” range. You can read a couple of stories from this blog about prostate cancer directly at: http://www.waterfyi.com/cancer/ and at http://www.waterfyi.com/cancer/prostate-oncologist/

Every man that I have spoken with who has purchased a water ionizer and/or converted to an alkaline diet for prostate cancer has had positive results. I have also had discussions with Naturopathic Doctors and a live blood analyst who have helped many people with cancer by helping them become alkaline. I find the articles written by Robert Young on his work with cancer patients who have benefited from alkaline water and alkaline diets to be informative.

I would never make any claims about success rates with cancer when one attempts to help their body become alkaline. The people that I have spoken to, and the research that I have done have not involved scientific studies in accredited research facilities. However, the results can’t be denied and should not be ignored in my opinion. Whenever I talk to someone with cancer, I tell them I’m not a physician and they should consult their physician. I also tell them that according to my research, drinking alkaline water and eating an alkaline diet may help. I also tell them that there is evidence that reducing stress and getting enough sleep have been known to be positive factors.

I used to rely upon the common sense of my friends that had cancer to drink ionized water. Unfortunately, they were stubborn and refused to try the “voodoo water”. Eventually I took matters into my own hands and gave them free water ionizers. I was able to convince them that it was only water and couldn’t hurt them. I also let them know that they would be drinking the water for my benefit, as I couldn’t bear the thought of losing them when I had information that might be able to help.

Could Dennis Hopper or some of the 27,000 Americans who will die of prostate cancer this year have been saved by drinking alkaline water or eating an alkaline diet? I don’t know. What I do know is that the people that I talk to have had success and I would definitely want the people that I care about to be aware of this knowledge in a similar situation.

Better still, why not let the people that you love know about the importance of being alkaline before cancer and other diseases have a chance to spread. That way, the people you love can take the time to do their research while they are still healthy. Once a disease like cancer strikes, most patients are struck with fear and end up doing what their physicians recommend without considering the consequences. This subject is too important to leave in the hands of people whose hands are tied by their profession, and who continue to offer protocols that they know will not work in many cases.

The author of this article is not a physician. It is recommended that anyone with health issues consult their primary care givers.

My research into the benefits of ionized water in regards to helping cancer patients lead me to start blogging about water. I don’t know how people find this blog, but they do. As a result, I continue to hear from more and more people with cancer. While cancer may have not reached epidemic levels yet, the number of people diagnosed or living with cancer is alarming. This is an inspiring story about a man who had been diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer and used ionized water to beat the disease and improve his overall health. This story was referred to me by a friend and cancer survivor, and involves one of her relatives.

“ Don & I are in our 80’s and have lived in Washington for our entire lives. My husband was diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer and we were told he didn’t have much time. Don was getting weak and we had to make some decisions quick! We sold our home & property where we had lived for 50 yrs, as we wanted to downsize in preparation for the inevitable. The Doctors gave Don radiation tablets but things didn’t look good and we weren’t hopeful. Just before Christmas time 2008, Cheryel told us about this water thing. I couldn’t remember much of the conversation other than she had been going through chemotherapy herself, and she kept talking about this water that she swears by.

We were interested in Cheryel’s story, but Don was feeling poorly as he was having a hard time with his kidneys and we had to leave. We didn’t think about the conversation again, as we were preoccupied. However my nephew showed up at our house one day shortly after Christmas with this a water ionizer that Cheryel had loaned to us. She thought it might make Don feel a little bit better at the very least.

Don has been drinking the water ever since. When Don started drinking the water his PSA was 253. When we last saw the oncologist at the end of April 2009, Don’s PSA had dropped down to 1.1 and has remained at low cancer free levels ever since. Don’s kidney’s continue to get better.

We haven’t made too many changes other than drinking the water and eating a bit better. I can’t think of anything besides the water that helped Don. Whatever that water does, we love it and think everyone should drink it. Don & I want to thank Cheryel .

Don & Billy Howard, Washington State”

I want to thank the Howards for taking the time to share their story. I expect to be able to share many more similar stories in the future, as they are out there. I just need to find them.

I’m not a physician and I don’t offer medical advice, but I believe it is both reckless and senseless to continue to leave cancer treatment up to the pharmaceutical companies and physicians. An improvement of only 5% in survival rates for cancer in 60 years is just not good enough.

As always, this article is the opinion of the author and should not be taken as medical advice. Always seek advice from your health care provider for health issues.

During his State of the Union address in January 1971, Richard Nixon declared war on cancer. Here is what he said:

“The time has come in America when the same kind of concentrated effort that split the atom and took man to the moon should be turned toward conquering this dreaded disease. Let us make a total national commitment to achieve this goal.”

President Nixon followed through on his promise and signed the National Cancer Act on December 23, 1971. What started out as a noble cause has obviously lost its focus over the years.

In 1971, the medical community didn’t have a cure for cancer. They had three strategies for dealing with cancer, which included “slashing, burning, and poisoning”. You will never hear a doctor refer to surgery as slashing, or radiation as burning, or chemotherapy as poisoning, but that is exactly what each of the medical terms means in layman’s terms.

In 2009, after 38 years of research by the best scientific minds in the world, that have been funded by hundreds of billions of dollars, doctors still slash and burn and poison… oh excuse me… perform surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy.

I don’t want to take the negative approach and talk about money and conspiracies. We all know about that stuff. What is obvious is that governments, and the medical community, and the pharmaceutical industry are not going to provide the answers. What I do want to talk about is what we can do about cancer.

In Canada and the United States, it is illegal to practice medicine without a license. The powers that control the industry have made it virtually impossible for our physicians to recommend any product if it hasn’t been approved by the FDA or Health Canada. The College of Physicians has the right, and exercises its right, to sanction physicians for any behavior that exceeds its guidelines. As a result, our physicians, who are in a position to listen to their patients and be part of the solution, have to remain detached.

Many doctors are aware of the ability of alkaline ionized water to eliminate acid from the body, which in turn allows that body to heal itself. These doctors have all seen the results first hand. Yet, they won’t recommend the water, and they won’t write review papers. You can’t blame the doctors. They are not willing to risk their livelihood. They have worked hard to become physicians and they need to protect their careers and their families, just like anyone else.

Doctors are not allowed to help us, as the system is not going to change. It’s not right, but it is reality. So, what else can we do?

The water ionizer companies deal with clients everyday that have cancer. They know that their machines are saving lives of cancer patients that have previously been told by physicians that they have terminal cancer. Unfortunately, the companies are not allowed to post testimonials because they can be charged with practicing medicine without a license. In fact, the water ionizer manufacturers and importers choose to continue to run under the radar. Why would they choose this path? They lay low because the industry is profitable, and they don’t want to upset the pharmaceutical companies. Why do they fear the pharmaceutical companies? The pharmaceutical companies have astonishing wealth and connections, and can crush the water ionizer manufacturers if they are seen as a threat. How do I know this? I talk to them. So, don’t look to the water ionizer manufacturers to spread the word.

We are beginning to see Dealers that represent products of the various water ionizer companies post testimonials on their sites. The Dealers recognize the value of the testimonials in regards to adding credibility to their sales strategy. However, the Dealers are unaware of the consequences of their actions, and will likely be forced to remove the testimonials as awareness of the units become more widespread.

It seems to me that it will be up to individuals who have experienced the water themselves to spread the word. While the medical system is strictly governed, the good news is that freedom of speech still exists. However, freedom of speech must be accomplished without being attached to business interests. This blog offers me the opportunity to do my part. I invite you to join me in helping spread the word. If you have experienced the benefits of alkaline water, please share your stories with us, so that others can learn from you.

The author of this article is not a physician. All comments made in this article are the opinion of the author, or the opinions of those that have provided the information, and are not intended as advice. All persons with health issues are advised to consult with a physician.

I wish I had more time to dedicate to this blog, because it continues to be a never-ending source of amazement for me. Just when you think the world has gone crazy and nobody cares, along comes another example of human kindness.

I had a call a couple of weeks ago from a woman that desperately wanted a water ionizer to help combat her husband’s lymphoma. Lymphoma is a cancer that starts in the lymphocytes of the immune system. Lymphoma is categorized as either Hodgkin’s lymphoma, or non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL). The outlook for cancer patients who have lymphoma can vary greatly as there are many different varieties of NHL. A significant factor in dealing successfully with lymphoma, as with most forms of cancer, is early detection.

The husband in this story is very sick and unable to work. She stays at home looking after her two small children. Despite the fact that they wanted a water ionizer badly, they simply didn’t have the funds to purchase a unit. A good friend that owned a water ionizer had been supplying them with ionized water. Unfortunately, the friend lived in another city and could only make it by the house once a week. For those that don’t know, ionized water is most effective when it is fresh out of the tap. In fact, the negative ORP (oxidation reduction potential) begins regressing immediately, and in fact, loses about 80% of its impact within 24 hours. The lady in this story made the call to me when she discovered that the ORP deteriorated rapidly over time, as she realized that there was something more that she could be doing to help her family.

Her husband didn’t want her to call, as he is a proud man and didn’t want to ask for help. Fortunately for the family, the lady swallowed her pride and reached out. When she called, she apologized for asking for help, but I quickly suggested that I would do exactly the same thing if I were in her situation, as would anyone else who wants to protect their family.

She was hoping that I could lead her to someone that could provide her with a free unit in an effort to help her husband recover from the chemo. I informed her that I didn’t know anyone that offered such a service, but that I would call around. She was polite, but it was obvious that she was very disappointed.

How the heck do you find a free water ionizer for someone? I called some companies and they expressed sympathy, but indicated that they couldn’t just start giving away units, or they would be inundated with requests. So, it the companies won’t help, who would? I thought that perhaps I could find an individual or a group that might help.

I decided to make a list of people that I knew, who might be in a position to consider such a generous gift for a complete stranger. Then I thought of who I had been in contact with that had experienced life changing effects from the water. One obvious name popped up so I though why not try and call. I have to admit that it felt strange to be calling someone and asking for such a big favour, even if it wasn’t for me. Five minutes later, the unit was paid for anonymously, and the unit was on its way within the hour.

I called the lady that evening to let her know that a unit was on the way. She said that she didn’t understand how this could happen, as nobody helps a stranger with such a generous gift. When I explained that there are extraordinary people in the world, and that this was just another example, she started to cry. And cry. And cry. Between sobs, she said that there are no words for gratitude that she felt towards her benefactor. She asked me for her “angel’s” name. I told her that the person demanded anonymity. She said that wasn’t fair, as she had to say thank you. I told her I would pass on a message if she wanted, and I would ask the benefactor if would be ok to forward the message. The next day, I received an incredible message from her that expressed her gratitude to the stranger, and that the gift had already started working because it had given her family hope.

I was so moved by the message that I sent a copy of the message to the benefactor despite being informed previously that there was to be no contact. I didn’t want to call first, as I thought there was a good chance that the benefactor wouldn’t let me send the message. The next day, I received an email from the benefactor, and I braced myself for an electronic tongue lashing. However, the message from the lady was so powerful that the benefactor actually replied to the person anonymously. This is where a great story gets even better. The benefactor sent me a message, to pass on anonymously to the lady, thanking her for the gift of being able to help.

The way I keep score, there ended up being three gifts. The first gift is the actual material gift of a water ionizer. The second gift is the gift of hope to the family. The third gift is the incredible gift of giving. I don’t know about you, but this one really touched my heart.

It strikes me as ironic that the great stories that I have the privilege to write about come at the expense of others who have suffered through various forms of illness. While this blog is dedicated to educating others about the incredible benefits of drinking water, it is the stories of those who have faced and overcome difficult or even life threatening diseases that provide the real hope to others.

Not everyone wants to share their stories for privacy reasons, which is perfectly understandable. Those that do share their stories have my deepest respect and gratitude, because they can educate and inspire others.

This is a real life love story of a woman that refused to let her husband’s prostate cancer destroy their lives. The couple had all the medical help you could possibly imagine, as you will see, but the medical community was simply not getting the job done. The wife refused to accept the medical prognosis. She researched and found alkaline ionized water, and made her skeptical husband drink the water faithfully every day. The husband beat prostate cancer, but the victory definitely belongs to them as a couple.

Prostate cancer is detected by a blood test which measures the level of PSA (prostate-specific antigen). PSA is a protein produced by the prostate, which is released into the bloodstream. When prostate cancer develops and grows, increased levels of PSA are released into the bloodstream. PSA levels under 5ng/ml are considered “normal”, between 5 and 10 are considered “intermediate”, and over 10 are considered “high”.

The husband’s PSA count remained at 45 in February 2009 despite the best efforts over an extended period of time by four of the leading oncologists in the world. The couple spared no effort or expense in their attempt to get rid of the cancer, including visits to meet and work with the leading physicians at both Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, and John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. When the primary oncologist on the case said that they would begin chemotherapy if the next round of tests didn’t improve, the wife took over. She researched many alternatives on the internet and decided that alkaline ionized water was the best course of action. Her research indicated that the water couldn’t hurt, and that there were many reports of the water helping with cancer.

The wife ordered a water ionizer and made her husband drink the water every day, despite being skeptical. When he returned for his next PSA test, the level had dropped to 18. The husband was so “stunned” by the results that he had an independent test done shortly afterwards. When the results came back from the independent test, the level had dropped to 13. The family was ecstatic of course. When the husband returned for his next test at the hospital, the PSA level had dropped to 5. The oncologist informed him that he was no longer considered a cancer patient, as his PSA level was considered “normal”.

The four oncologists involved with the case from the various hospitals all marveled at the “miracle”. The husband informed each of them that it was not a miracle at all. When asked to explain by the doctors what he meant, he told all of them that the only thing that he had changed in his life, was drinking the ionized water that his wife made him drink each day.

The husband asked each specialist to write a review of the case, but none of them would comply. Western medicine continues to ignore the growing number of cases where people have used alkaline ionized water to reduce the acid level in their bodies, so that the body can heal itself. The good news is that the husband no longer has cancer, and every case builds awareness of how water can play a key role in helping achieve and maintain good health.

My personal thanks go to the couple involved for sharing their story with us.

I hear a lot of personal stories about how alkaline ionized water helps people in many ways. I also hear a lot of stories about how alkaline ionized water changes lives (I have one myself). But every once in awhile I receive a call that provides incredible inspiration, and it is my privilege to share this one with you.

I have a great deal of respect for the medical profession, because my father was a wonderful physician. However, I have come to learn over the years that western medicine doesn’t begin to have all the answers. In fact, I believe our medical system is failing badly in terms of providing health care through preventative medicine. Instead of launching into negative territory, I want to relate this wonderful story of a family physician that has made a difference.

A couple of months ago, a physician from Quebec ordered a water ionizer for his personal use after reading about the benefits of the water. Shortly thereafter, one of his patients called and purchased the same unit.

Fast forward to this past weekend and the physician contacted me in order to obtain another water ionizer unit for a relative that has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I began to explain to the doctor that the unit might offer some real hope based upon the personal stories that I have been involved with. The doctor politely indicated that he understood which I assume was to spare him the pain of listening to me. He then asked me if I remembered the patient that obtained the second unit a couple of months ago. I said I did, and then the doctor told me the following story.

It turns out that his patient had stage four liver cancer and the oncologist working on the case had informed the patient that there was nothing more that could be done. In fact, palliative care service had been applied for to assist the patient. If you have any experience with palliative care, you know exactly where this was heading.

The patient reported the news to his family physician, and inquired if the doctor was aware of anything that might give him hope. The doctor explained to the patient that he had been researching water ionizers on the internet and that the patient might want to do some research on his own. The doctor explained that he had learned from his research that there was reason to believe that the machines might be able to reduce acid levels in the body. He also explained that cancer thrives in an acidic environment, so anything that could help reduce acid levels might help. For professional reasons, the doctor left it at that, but he did tell his patient that he had ordered one of the machines for his own home. The cancer patient contacted me shortly afterward to order a water ionizer without ever mentioning his situation.

It turns out that over the past two months, the patient started feeling better and better. In fact, the patient had returned to working on his hobbies and had just returned from a vacation.

As the cancer had progressed, tests had shown that the patient’s liver enzyme count has increased as time went on. Since the patient started drinking the ionized water, the enzyme count has been dropping. The doctor informed me that both he and the patient are filled with hope, and that they were anxiously awaiting the results of a new MRI test that is scheduled in a couple of weeks.

The doctor also passed on to me that all the members of his family have now obtained water ionizers. That is not an endorsement of course, but it certainly sends a clear unspoken message.

I wish that I could use the physician’s name, as he is a hero in my eyes. Unfortunately, any mention of his personal information could pose a threat to the physician’s career. The College of Physicians would undoubtedly investigate this type of “unprofessional conduct”, despite the fact that the physician’s only involvement was to direct the patient to do his own research.

I have the urge to blast away at the medical profession for their archaic methods of dealing with the new awareness towards health care, but I would rather just end this on a happy note. Bravo doctor!
