Erectile Dysfunction and Ionized Water

I never saw the day coming when I thought I would be writing about Erectile Dysfunction. The subject never occurred to me and nobody ever talks about it…ever!

Statistics indicate that 20 million American men suffer from ED. Really? How can that be when nobody talks about it? Don’t you find it odd that our society (through the media and internet) is so preoccupied with sex and yet nobody talks about ED?

So what prompted me to bring up such a taboo subject? Certainly not any discussion that I have had because I have never had a friend or associate even mention the subject. I came across the subject when I was researching Diabetes. My interest in Type 2 Diabetes (which accounts for about 95% of all cases of Diabetes) comes from my many discussions with people who have been able to dramatically reduce or eliminate their Type 2 Diabetes prescriptions when they started drinking ionized water and eating properly.

What has Diabetes got to do with Erectile Dysfunction?

It turns out to be a lot. Research indicates that 50% of all men who have Diabetes end up experiencing Erectile Dysfunction within ten years. Really? Yup!

Isn’t the incidence of Type 2 Diabetes escalating rapidly? Yup! Hmmm!

Facts about Diabetes

* 20 – 26 million Americans have diabetes (depending upon which studies you read)
* 40 – 79 million more Americans have pre-diabetes (depending upon which studies you read)…ie… people who have elevated blood sugar levels which means they are working their way towards getting Type 2 Diabetes….yikes!

Let’s Do the Math…Or…The Ugly Truth

To save an argument about which statistical study you believe, let’s use a number of 60 million people in America (the half way point between 40 million and 79 million) who will likely become diabetic in the coming years.

Let’s also assume that 2/3 of the new cases will be men based upon the UK study. Perhaps the 2/3 percentage is high, but it makes sense to me as it certainly seems that women in general take better care of their bodies than men.

So…if there are going to be 60 million more cases of Type 2 Diabetes in the USA in the coming years and 2/3 of the cases will be men, one could assume that 40 million more men will be afflicted with Type 2 Diabetes. If 50% of those men will suffer from ED within ten years, we are talking about another 20 million American men who will likely suffer from ED.

That can’t be a good thing…for the men or their partners! I know that the intimacy derived from a healthy sex life with my wife has always been important to us. I imagine it is similar for others as well. It seems to me that ED would only further complicate an already complicated world.

What can you do about this?

The answer is easy….don’t get Type 2 Diabetes.

Ok, but how do you do that?

Again, the answer is easy….build your diet around alkaline foods and drinks instead of acidic foods and drinks.

The major cause of Type 2 diabetes is an acidic diet based upon an over indulgence of sugar, and a lack of exercise. Many of us head to the gym or participate in sports to help reshape our body, but any trainer will tell you that you are wasting your time if you don’t control what you put in your mouth. You can work out all you want, but 80% to 90% of the results will be determined by what you eat.

Unfortunately, making healthy changes to your diet is more difficult that you might think. The changes required often go against the grain of a lifetime of bad eating habits. Sugars and white flour are not healthy food choices and they make up a significant percentage of what many of us eat. Replacing sugars and flour in your diet with fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds often takes time.
Many people have found that the best place to start the journey to a new and healthier body is to drink alkaline water. You need to replace the water that your body uses up every day, so why not start by drinking water that helps your body become healthy. The effort is minimal and the results are often dramatic. Many Type 2 Diabetes sufferers find that they can reduce or eliminate their meds altogether when they start drinking ionized water. In the worst case, you will be drinking clean and healthy water that will actually save you money when compared to bottled water or sugar based (and therefore harmful) drinks.

As you begin to feel and look better, you may find that, like many others who start the journey to a healthier lifestyle, you will start eating better . The benefits often begin to compound and you may find that you start to become more active.

You can definitely prevent and even get rid of Type 2 Diabetes with a proper diet and exercise. The connection between Type 2 Diabetes and ED is real. While men suffer directly from ED, the problem obviously affects couples as well. Don’t be a victim….this is something that you can actually control by making changes.

Chemotherapy Doesn’t Work For Cancer

I believe that the quotation above is the greatest insight ever offered by the man that invented the light bulb, the phonograph, and the movie camera.

I grew up as a son of a medical doctor and have always had the utmost respect for the medical world. There is definitely a place in our society for medical doctors. They can set bones, stitch up wounds, and provide medical procedures in both emergency and non-emergency situations. However, when it comes to health care, or disease prevention and cures, medical doctors are completely out of their league.

It is not a crime to be misinformed or uneducated about a topic. When it comes to medicine and the practice of health care, the crime is that our doctors are being misled about how to treat cancer during their training in medical schools. The fact that the public trusts doctors when it comes to cancer treatments just makes it worse.

How can it possibly be true that doctors are being taught misleading information about the use of chemotherapy as a treatment for cancer?

Let’s look at the facts:

* chemotherapy is only successful in curing cancer in the USA 2.1% of the time
* the ratio would be much closer to zero if the medical world didn’t consider that anyone who lives five years after receiving treatment was cured…if you die 5 years and a day later, the chemo treatment is still considered a cure…reoccurrences at a later date don’t count against the “cured” designation
* 81% of oncologists that prescribe chemo to cancer patients every day would not choose chemo treatments for themselves if they got cancer

What is the conventional wisdom behind administering chemotherapy for cancer treatments?

The basis for the inclusion of chemotherapy is that the drugs will kill off cells that reproduce the fastest. The thinking is that if you kill off the rapidly growing cancer cells, you will kill off the cancer. Chemotherapy is a poison that is administered which kills cells.

What actually happens when chemotherapy is administered

The goal is to kill the cancer cells, but chemo actually kills all the cells. The fact that chemo patients lose their hair, experience nausea and vomiting, and suffer many longer term side effects is a testament that the poison doesn’t discriminate about what cells it kills.

When you take chemo, the drug essentially pushes you towards death. Over the past sixty years, doctors have had lots of experience using chemo, to they have learned how to push you to the edge of death and then bring you back from the edge of the cliff before you die. Once you have had sufficient time to recover, they repeat the process….over and over again. If the procedure worked, you might be able to justify in your mind that the archaic and barbaric treatment….but it doesn’t work!

It simply doesn’t make sense to poison a trillion cells in your body to the point of near death in order to prevent the growth of a few cells located in a very small and specific location.

If you have been diagnosed with cancer and your oncologist has recommended chemotherapy, ask your doctor the following questions:

* What is your doctor trying to achieve with the treatment? Reducing the size of a tumor is often the objective, but reducing the size of a tumor as a goal is pointless
* How effective is the chemotherapy going to be in curing “your” cancer?
* What are the expected side effects, both short and long term?
* Would the doctor take the same treatment if she/he were in the same situation
* What alternatives are available?
* How effective are the alternatives?

You are much more likely to get “bad attitude” than satisfactory answers to the questions above.

So now what?

I often read blogs and articles where people bash away at ideas. I’m ok with that, but it really isn’t useful to me unless the author suggests an alternative for me to consider. I have been researching the work done by Dr. Leonard Coldwell. The man has treated 35,000 patients and it is believed he has the highest cancer cure rate in the world.

In fact, I am convinced I could cure at least 90% of all cancer patients if I had the legal platform to work with these people the “Dr Coldwell Way.” As long as the patient is willing and still able to do whatever it takes and has no surgery, chemotherapy or radiation, there is no reason Cancer cannot be cured in most people.

What else?

My favorite “cancer docs” in the USA are Dr. Stanislaw Burzinski in Texas and Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez in New York.

Dr. Burzinski is known for his remarkable success for his work with replacing antineoplastons, a peptide that he believes is missing in cancer patients. The man is constantly battling the medical establishment because of the success which doesn’t conform to standard protocols of the profession. Dr. Burzinski believes that each case must be looked at on an individual basis because every case is different. Dr. Burzinski tells us that it is imperative for cancer patients to avoid chemotherapy or other conventional treatments before starting work with him.

I once spoke with one of Dr. Burzinski’s patients who had been cured of cancer. She told me that when she was finished with her treatment, she asked Dr. Burzinski “what is the one thing he would recommend to her to help her from ever getting cancer again?” Dr. Burzinski told her to drink ionized alkaline water. Is there any question why I’m a “Burzinski” fan?

Dr. Gonzalez has also achieved remarkable success in treating cancer and other serious illnesses by means of a proper diet. Dr. Gonzalez builds individual cancer fighting diets for each patient because he believes that “no one program fits all”.

If you have cancer now, the following information will likely not help you because the center and not been built yet. However, if you are interested in learning about an awesome new strategy for dealing with cancer through alternative methods, check out www.americanaci.org. They are planning to build a huge wellness/teaching facility in Washington State. If the group is successful in launching their plans, I expect that the facility will be the epicenter of alternative medicine in the USA. The President of the group, Bob Wright has written a book called “Killing Cancer – Not People” that you can buy online. Guess what his group believes is the single most important factor is in curing cancer? Ionized alkaline water. Does anyone see a trend here?

Summary

You owe it to yourself or a loved one who has been diagnosed with cancer to research all possible avenues of care before choosing a path. There will be massive pressure to “do something” from your doctors, your family, and from your own conscience.

After all of my research on the subject of cancer, I can tell you that I will never take chemotherapy treatments. Chemo clearly doesn’t work. Other therapies clearly do work. It is not my place to tell anyone what to do. However, I feel compelled to share what I have learned.

It seems obvious to me that every cancer patient needs and deserves to be treated on a one-on-one basis by people who actually know what they are doing. I’m not referring to oncologists who practice standard protocols that have never worked. Regular ocolgists don’t have the knowledge, the ability to bill for alternative treatments that work, the time, or the backing of their own fraternity to properly treat cancer patients. When cancer strikes, nothing is more important than learning everything you can and finding the best treatment possible.

If I allow myself one piece of advice, it would be to do lots of homework and ask lots of questions before submitting to chemotherapy. All of the leading cancer treatment specialist tell us that once chemotherapy has been administered, the chances of survival drop dramatically because of the damage done to one’s immune system.

When my Dad was diagnosed with cancer in the fall of 1997, we just went along with the chemotherapy treatment that was recommended by his Doctors. No alternatives were offered and chemotherapy seemed to us to be the only game in town. What the chemo treatments did was to make my Dad extremely sick and weak. Yes, the chemo did delay my Dad’s death by a couple of months, but the treatments made the final months of his life a living hell. I can’t begin to describe the anguish that I felt as I watched the drugs steal his health and dignity. My Dad deserved better! If I knew then what I know now, things would have been very different. My Dad might not have survived, but he would have had a much better chance of living and he wouldn’t have been tortured by the effects of drugs.

Cancer: Should You Buy A Water Ionizer?

I hope you are reading this article before you or a loved one has been diagnosed with cancer. After all, the best way to beat cancer is to avoid getting it in the first place.

If you have the good fortune of not having cancer, please get regular medical checkups. The standard medical protocols for cancer treatment have not changed much in the past 50 years, but the improvement in detection of cancer through testing has been dramatic. The main weapon in beating cancer is to detect it early. Most of the wonderful statistics you hear about from cancer society’s seeking donations are due to early detection.

There are doctors who have gone against the grain in terms of investigating and trying alternative. These doctors are truly brave people because the pressure on them to conform to the standards is immense.

What to do if you have recently received a cancer diagnosis?

Welcome to the scary world. I was diagnosed with cancer last summer (thank God it turned out to be a bad diagnosis). For those that have never been diagnosed with cancer, be grateful because there is nothing else like it. I can only speak for myself, but everything in life changed for me the moment I heard the bad news. All the love and good wishes are comforting, but nothing changes the fact that you think you are in this alone. You go to sleep thinking about it, you wake up thinking about it, and you think about it off and on all day long.

The most important piece of advice I can offer is try not to panic. Remaining calm and level headed is easier said than done. You or your loved one has probably had cancer for at least a couple of years without knowing about it. It is very unlikely that you will need to start procedures right away. While it is natural to want to “do something” immediately, it doesn’t work that way. There will be waiting time for appointments….lots of appointments. You will receive appointments for testing, appointments to review the test results, appointments to meet specialists, appointments for more testing, and finally, the specialist will recommend a course of action.

I would recommend that you take the time between when you have first heard the news until your specialist makes his or her recommendations to start educating yourself. You will receive all kinds of advice whether you want it or not. It seems that everyone has an opinion on the subject. Some people advocate sticking to standard medical protocols, some others will attempt you to will shun the medical world and search for alternative treatments.

There are other choices

Within a few weeks of being diagnosed with cancer, your doctors will likely be pressing you to start treatments. There is a growing movement of people who believe that the entire medical/pharmaceutical professions are more concerned with money that with helping. I’m not one of them.

Although it is obvious that cancer research and treatment has a large financial component, my experience has been that the doctors really do care. Growing up as the son of a doctor, I can tell you that the seemingly cold exterior that many of us witness in the profession is just a means of self preservation on the part of the doctors. Doctors are only human after all and dealing with cancer as a career is not an easy choice.

While doctors do care, I personally don’t think that they have received a proper education in dealing with cancer. When a profession is still offering the same protocols that were being used 50 years ago with limited improvement in success rates, intuitively you should know that something is not right. If your doctors discredit alternative strategies, just keep in mind that doctors don’t want to venture outside of what they have been taught. Just because doctors are smart doesn’t mean they have all the answers.

There are alternatives, both medical and otherwise. Before you do anything, spend time researching….your life may depend upon it. Pick up Suzanne Somers book “Knockout’ and read up on the theories and practices of Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski, Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez, Dr. James Forsythe, Dr. Julie Taguchi, Dr. Russell Blaylock and others. Many have found success with the Gerson Therapy and other strategies. This is an important time to keep an open mind and do your research.

What you can do on your own beyond researching

There are things that you can do on your own to improve the odds. First off, avoid the obvious cancer causing substances like cigarettes, and the many other publicized known carcinogens.

The stuff that I read online about becoming more alkaline through changing what you eat and drink seems to be true. Cancer does thrive in an acidic environment while it can’t sustain itself over the long term in an alkaline body. There is just too much evidence to ignore that sugars, white flour, and dairy are part of the problem.

It seems like a no-brainer to eat more alkaline foods (veggies, fruits, legumes, nuts, seeds) and cut back on the acidic foods (red meats, junk food etc). Drink water (preferably alkaline water) as it is the only liquid we need. Avoid sodas, sugary drinks, juices, and use alcohol in moderation. Exercise! Get enough sleep as our bodies need time to recover. Perhaps the most important choice of all is to reduce stress….really! I personally believe that stress plays a much bigger role than people realize in all forms of disease.

What about Ionized Water?

Finally….I’m getting to the point. I took the time to point out other factors and strategies because I think it would be folly to believe that ionized water is the magic bullet for curing cancer.

The online websites that sell water ionizers never come right out and say that drinking ionized water will prevent or cure cancer, but they drop some pretty strong hints. My blog also offers up a number of compelling testimonies from people that have experienced dramatic improvement when they started drinking ionized water. Does that mean that I think people that have received a cancer diagnosis should race out and buy a water ionizer? No….but I do think it is something that deserves consideration.

Despite what the naysayers claim, drinking alkaline water does help raise the pH level in your body. The fact that your stomach is acidic does not nullify the ability of alkaline water to have a positive effect on the pH level in your body. As the cells in your stomach wall detect the presence of alkaline food or water, they will produce hydrochloric acid (HCl) to counteract the elevated pH. When HCl is produced, a bicarbonate byproduct is also produced. It is the creation of bicarbonates that enter the small intestine that alter the pH of the liquids in your body.

Which water ionizer should I buy if I decide to go ahead?

I don’t think it matters because they all work.

My preference would be to purchase a machine with adequate power to produce high pH and low ORP. Unfortunately that doesn’t really narrow things down because the major brands all provide plenty of power.

I would also recommend a machine that is reliable. Once again this is not really a deciding factor because all the machines are reliable. The science is really simple and the technology has been around for a long time. Most of the companies offer warranties that will outlast the technology. By that I mean that by the time it comes to replacing a machine, there will likely be better solutions available. In the meantime, inexpensive replacement parts are available so companies simply install new parts instead of repairing machines.

If all the brands work and they are all reliable, it seems that it really gets down to price. You will find machines that range in price from $1,000 to $4,000. Choose the one that makes the best sense for you based upon your comfort level with the product itself and the people behind the product.

I believe that buying a water ionizer is a good decision for anyone. When it comes to battling cancer, I think the argument for purchasing a water ionizer becomes even more compelling. Shame on IonWays: Greed Before Honor

There was a time when I respected the IonWays water ionizer company. In the days when deceptive advertising and bashing competitors were common place for many of the water ionizer companies, IonWays always took the high road. As IonWays’ fortunes have plummeted, it appears their ethics have done the same.

Providing the World with Clean Water

Each year, 3.5 million people around the world die because of unsafe drinking water. Scott Harrison is the Pied Piper of creating safe drinking water for the planet. In the last 5 years, Scott and his group www.charitywater.org have raised over $40 million dollars to finance nearly 4,300 water improvement projects. They have provided safe drinking water for more than 2 million people and counting.

Last summer, I worked with a group of like minded individuals who wanted to lend our time and expertise to the cause of providing safe drinking water to people in need. We devised a plan with 3 primary goals:

1) Provide affordable clean alkaline “ionized” water to the public in America and elseswhere
2) Reduce the environmental impact of disposable water bottles
3) Donate the profits from sales to provide a temporary safe drinking water alternative to those waiting for Charitywater.org projects to be completed

Charity Bottles

Our plan was to purchase filters from a company called Seychelle (www.seychelle.com). Seychelle has been producing filters for bottles for many years which remove 99.99% of the contaminants from water. We wanted the Seychelle filters to do more than simply provide clean the water, so we introduced Seychelle to a well known supplier of bio ceramic minerals that are found in the Antioxidant Filters. Seychelle found a way to add the minerals to their filter and the results were good.

We designed a stylish new bottle because the Seychelle design was/is very utilitarian. There was nothing physically wrong with the Seychelle bottle, but why not have something more appealing to look at and easier to hold. After all, plastic bottles cost less than a dollar when purchased in volume.

We decided upon a retail price of $49 for the new bottle. Our product cost would have been approximately 30% of the retail price, which would leave a healthy profit after covering normal business costs such as shipping and administration. We were going to use the profits to provide free bottles or other temporary filtration units to those waiting for Charitywater.org to provide a more permanent solution.

Me and my Big Mouth

Our group was very excited about our plans because of the potential impact of our efforts. I wrote about our intentions on this blog and discussed the subject openly with people in the water industry. I never felt the need to hide the concept designed for charity. Everyone I spoke to loved the idea and many offered their help. Detailers and retailers were anxiously waiting to carry the new “not for profit” product which would “help save lives”. In hindsight, I should have kept everything secret until it was ready to go.

IonWays Enters the Filtered Water Bottle Business

IonWays has been stedily losing market share for years. The core of their sales team left a couple of years ago and the company has never recovered. Their equipment is out of date. Their marketing plan has been haphazard at best. To combat their flagging sales, they introduced their Elita non-electric water ionizer in 2011 at a price of $1,499. The head of the company heralded their new non-electric water ionizer as the way of the future and he was right. Unfortunately, he failed to recognize that their brand name and their sales team wouldn’t be able to overcome the fact that similar competitive products were selling for around $300. IonWays recently abandoned sales of the unit.

Finding themselves without anything new to offer their MLM team, IonWays decided to enter the filtered alkaline bottle market. I wonder where they suddenly got the idea. IonWays convinced Seychelle to work with them instead of our charity group by offering to unleash their multinational MLM sales team on the new bottles. I remember the day when the head of marketing for Seychelle called me to tell me that they couldn’t work with us because they had agreed to work with a “large multinational company”. When I discovered that the company was IonWays, I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

I used the picture of the 24 oz Seychelle bottle instead of the 28 oz bottle because it has a filter that will be located at the top of the bottle instead of the filter that extends to the bottom as seen on the Seychelle website.

Note the retail prices of the bottle ($29.95) and replacement filter ($14.95) on the Seychelle website for their standard filters. Seychelle was rightfully going to charge us a few extra dollars for the alkaline filters in order to compensate them for the cost of the additional minerals and labor. We were going to use the unique alkaline feature to bump the price up to $49 so that we could generate extraordinary profits that would allow us to provide free bottles to the third world.

The Bottom Line

Our group believed that at a price of $49, the “do gooders” among us would see the value in paying a little more to help save lives. In fact, we thought the price would be seen as good value to anyone regardless of their views on helping humanity.

Instead of the public being able to help save lives while buying the bottles for $49, IonWays is now offering the same bottle for $119.95. The 700% market will all be used to generate corporate profit. I feel like throwing up.

Live Chat: A Great Learning Tool

I receive emails all the time asking me which water ioinizer I recommend. I always respond with the same answer: “It depends upon your needs”. Everyone has individual needs and that means there is no silver bullet when it comes to water ionizers. I ask people what they want to use the machine for (drinking water, cleaning, or both), the condition of their source water, how much water they require each day, and their budget of course. When you go through the checklist, the right choice of machines becomes easy.

What the water ionizer web sites are offering in terms of education and help these days:

I decided to revisit the major water ionizer websites to see what the companies were offering in terms of education and advice. Virtually every website provides a synopsis of why you should buy their machine as opposed to a machine from another company. Most sites offer a list of benefits that they have copied from somewhere as there is very little “original” content to be found anywhere. Some offer testimonials, which don’t carry a lot of weight unless you can actually contact the people. Testimonials are even less believable because you never see anything negative. The sites all have a CONTACT US button which provides a form to fill out which requires inputting personal information. Last but not least, many sites provide a toll free telephone number which you can call in and ask questions.

I decided to contact the major water ionizer companies to see what they had to say. Hey, I’m retired and a toll free number is an open invitation, so why not have a little fun. I found that they are all a little more sophisticated than they were in the past. However, by the time each call was over, I had received “the full court press”. All the old bad habits that the industry is famous for would rise to the surface when the phone operators realized that the “sale” might be slipping away.

I found one water ionizer company that had an online Live Chat. Hmmmmm…..at least I could bail without being rude. It didn’t surprise me that it was the www.alkastream.us site as those guys seem to always be one step ahead of everybody else. I didn’t have to enter any personal information at all. The anonymity factor is important because I don’t want to join someone’s mailing list in order to get a little information.

When I requested a chat, I was hooked up right away to a live person instead of having to leave a message (which requires leaving contact information of course). The person answered my questions without any sales pitch, which was great. When I asked about the comparison between natural water ionizers and electric water ionizers, the person explained to me how and why natural water ionizers are preferable in terms that anyone could understand. I wanted to see how much the person actually knew about ionized water as opposed to providing stock answers so I asked some tough questions. I was surprised at the high knowledge level of the person. The thing that impressed me the most was that I didn’t get the normal salesman “runaround” when the person couldn’t answer one of my questions. The person admitted that he/she didn’t know the answer but would get back to me if I left an email address or telephone number (which I didn’t).

I asked the person how the Live Chat service was working out. I didn’t receive any details but I was told that the company was very happy with the service and was thinking about adding more people. That was nice to hear because we need more companies that are planning to grow instead of contract.

Enagic: Amazing Success Story

I have written in the past that I thought it was inevitable that the Enagic MLM system would crash because of the high price of their machines. To date, I have to admit that I have been wrong as their sales continue to be as strong as ever. I recently visited the Enagic corporate website and read that they are selling 5,000 units per month, which is awesome.

How Enagic keeps up their sales with the prices they charge is a testament to their incredible marketing skills. Good for them. I have always maintained that I don’t care who people buy from as long as they drink the water. What machines people choose and what price they pay is an individual choice.

While Enagic sales continue to flourish, my sources tell me that sales for the other electronic water ionizer companies continue to suffer. It is unfortunate that companies with good products that sell for half the money continue to flounder. Two words come to mind when it comes to Enagic…..”superior marketing”.

The only water ionizer company that I know of besides Enagic that is defying the downward trend is Alkastream. Their President, Gabe Hunninghake, tells me they are signing up several new dealers every week. If that information came from any other company in the industry, my BS meter would be going off like an alarm clock. However, Gabe is as down to earth as anyone I have ever met. The news of their success doesn’t surprise me because I continue to receive lots of emails from people asking about the antioxidant filters. As the word spreads about how well the antioxidant filters work, I expect that their sales will continue to grow.

Gabe tells me that many of his dealers also sell Enagic machines. It seems that the dealers sell Enagic machines to customers that can afford $4,000 and Alkastream machines to people with a more modest budget. Kinda reminds me of General Motors selling Cadillacs and Chevrolets.

I still believe that the public will eventually learn that the low cost antioxidant filters are just as effective as the much more expensive electric machines. When that happens, I think that the electric machines will become obsolete. In the meantime, my heartfelt congratulations go out to Enagic for a job well done.

What Is Good Health Worth?

I have always been a “value guy” when it comes to purchasing anything. What does that mean? To me, it means that the object that I’m considering purchasing offers more benefit to me than the effort I have to put out in order to be able to afford to purchase it.

Junk Food: Does a piece of chocolate provide enough pleasure to merit the ten or twenty cents that it costs. Unfortunately for me and to many others, the answer to that one is yes despite the fact that we know that it is bad for us. Our society is filled with overweight people because junk food is a low cost way of providing temporary satisfaction. Unfortunately, in the long run, the cumulative effects to our health of over consumption of junk food exceeds the financial cost. The real cost the health risk.

GMO Food: This is a tougher decision. Monsanto/the Devil is feeding the world. Productivity is up which keeps prices down. However, what is the real cost?

Entertainment: This is a far reaching category…from music to sports to theater to movies to television to the internet and so on. Other than professional sports and some theatrical productions, entertainment is typically very inexpensive from a financial perspective. To me, the real cost is the “brain dead” time that so many of us waste in front of the television, or the loss of “family time” as we all scurry off to our offices or bedrooms to play on the “net” instead of sharing with each other.

Water: You didn’t think I would let this one sneak by did you? Most of us think water is free because it doesn’t cost anything to get a drink of water out of our taps. Once again, the cost shouldn’t be measured in terms of money. While tap water is “free”, it is often filled with poisons that cause long term health problems.

The Reverse Osmosis people (a good one can be purchased for $400 to $600) have had it right all along in that they have focused on eliminating harmful contaminants from water. Adding a Calcium/Magnesium type supplement to replace lost minerals and eating an alkaline diet to offset the acidic properties of RO water is a good solution, or, you can add an antioxidant filter ($300).

I can’t leave this topic without talking about electric water ionizers. They work…plain and simple. But, how much should you pay for it? I guess that depends upon what value you attach to your health. The Kangen guys are the only “real” electric water ionizer company as they sell 5,000 machines per month in the USA. It boggles the mind to see people paying $4,000 per machine when competitive brands that work just as well or better sell for half the money….but that’s marketing baby! The market share for the alternative brands is shrinking while the Kangen brand is growing. It looks like the only real alternatives for consumers are the antioxidant filters which sell in the $300 to $400 range. I understand that sales for the antioxidant filters are taking off, but I thought their impact would have been greater by this time. Apparently the low price of the units is holding back sales as people wonder if the product actually works. Go figure.

On a percentage basis, virtually nobody owns a water ionizer. Would you use one if it was free? Would you pay $100? $200? $500? $1,000? Does the brand make a difference to you? I would really like to know so please comment below.

I don’t know any other way to describe the success of bottled water other than to recognise that the bottles are for lazy people. There is simply no reasonable explanation for people to be wasting ridiculous amounts of money and knowingly destroying our planet with bottled water other than they are too lazy to do something about it. This may sound crazy, but I think the real problem with bottled water is recycling. People think that bottled water is ok because the bottles get recycled. Wrong….less than half of the bottles get recycled.

Electro Magnetic Fields/Radiation: My new passion. Most of us know that we should avoid living near overhead telephone wires if we can avoid it. We have been hearing from out parents since we were children to not sit too close to the tv or the computer (but for the wrong reasons). We know that using micro wave ovens kills off the useful nutrients in the foods we “nuke”. Yet so many of us ignore the evidence.

We like our cell phones, our portable phones, our computers, and our televisions. Many of us broadcast WiFi through our homes and offices. The convenience offered represents great value when it comes to dollars spent versus the pleasures or efficiency derived from them. Virtually none of us has ever considered the cost of what the radiation from these appliances does to our health until the WHO announced in March 2011 that it ranks cell phone use as a Type 2B carcinogen. What does that mean? It means that using an unprotected cell phone may cause cancer. What does it cost to protect yourself or your children from this? Twenty bucks for lab tested shields that offer a 97% a reduction of the EMR’s entering your ear canal. Seems like a no-brainer to me. I have also learned that shields can also reduce the EMR from your computer screen by 89%, but you need four of them. My solution to reducing EMR’s from computer screens is to keep the screens a full arm’s length away (about 3 feet from my face as my hands rest on the keypad). I find that resting my arms on the desk also reduces the risk of carpal tunnel syndrome.

I could go on and on about the value of things because the selection of items to choose from is endless. The old adage that the best things in life are free still holds true. For everything else, there is…..do your homework and please consider all the costs, not just the price tag.

Health Care Industry Pros Rarely Recommend Water Ionizers

I recently attended the Canadian Health Food Show in Toronto as a “water consultant” on behalf of a company that sells many products, including water ionizers. The show was well attended by owners or managers of health food stores as well as Naturopathic Doctors and other industry professionals.

It seemed to me that the show was so big that people didn’t have enough time to focus on anything but their special interests. The general consensus among the exhibitors that I spoke with was that the number of discussions was down from previous years, but the level of interest and education was higher.

Most Health Care Professionals Don’t Incorporate Water Ionizers In Their Trade

I found that the level of awareness among the industry professionals about the importance of being alkaline was very high. They also recognized the importance of proper hydration. As such, one would think they would be big fans of water ionizers. However, that was not the case. While most of the professionals knew about water ionizers, very few incorporated ionized water into their practices. The primary issue for the professionals was price. I also found that most industry professionals are not “drinking the Kool-Aid” when it comes to the ability of water ionizers to either help or provide good value when it comes to making the human body alkaline. Most people that I spoke with recommended Reverse Osmosis machines to remove impurities from the water and recommended an alkaline diet.

It is hard to argue with the industry professional’s assessment. Why would anyone pay thousands of dollars for a machine that doesn’t adequately remove contaminants from the water and produces the same alkalizing ability that can be achieved by eating a proper diet? Good question!

Most of my discussions with the industry professionals during the show revolved around me explaining that the goal of water ionizers is to produce hydrogen. Most industry professionals understood that hydrogen is the building block of the human body. When I explained that your body can get hydrogen from food and from ionized water, their interest perked up. When they learned that ionized water is very efficient at producing hydrogen, their interest grew. At that point in time, the money issue would crop up. It seemed that most of my conversations ended up heading in the direction of antioxidant filters because of the low price point.

When the professionals learned that antioxidant filters removed some of the contaminants from the water and created hydrogen at a low price, the “light” would come on.

The show was designed to educate health care industry professionals as opposed to selling stuff. The company did sign up a few dealers but I was hoping for a lot more. It seems like my goal of “educating the world” about the benefits of ionized water is going to continue to be a long process. I will keep working away at it as I realize that every person that starts drinking the water becomes another spokesperson.

1/2 Price Ionized Water For Cancer Patients

Cancer is out there! It seems like i can’t get through a day without receiving news in my personal life or on my blog about someone getting diagnosed with cancer. The news is devastating to everyone regardless of age, sex, or nationality.

Cancer advice: It’s only good if it works:

I’m not a doctor and would never pretend that I have all the answers. I don’t feel bad about that because it seems that the doctors are at a loss for solutions as well. A person that gets cancer today has a 5% better chance of survival than someone who got cancer in 1950. What? Yup. After trillions of dollars have been invested in search for a cure for cancer, we are still stuck with slashing, burning, and poisoning.

Chemotherapy didn’t work in the fifties and it still doesn’t work, but nobody seems to want to do anything about it. I can understand how cutting out a cancerous section of colon could work. I can also see how zapping a tumor with radiation could work. I will never understand how poisoning an entire body to try and halt the growth of cells in a tumor in a breast makes any sense at all.

Let’s ignore the fact that trillions of dollars of funding has been wasted on cancer research.

Let’s assume that the pharmaceutical and health care industries don’t want a cure for cancer. Huh? If there was a cure for cancer that people actually were aware of, the $400 billion per year industry in the USA each year would die. That would mean that most if not all the hospitals would close and hundreds of thousands if not millions of jobs would be lost.

What can you do besides taking bad advice about cancer treatments from doctors?

While the cure rate for chemotherapy is only 2.1% in the USA, there are doctors and other health practioners all over the world that are curing cancer. Really? Yes, really.

There is a guy in Europe by the name of Dr. Leonard Coldwell who has treated 35,000 patients and has lectured to 2.2 million people. He also writes a health related website that has 7 million followers. He claims that he can cure over 90% of cancer patients with the proper diet (alkaline of course) of food and water. I’m a big believer in the benefits of ionized alkaline water in general. I have talked to lots of people who have seen their cancer disappear completely when the drank ionized water and I have written a number of articles about their stories. Water: The Missing Link To Health

It has become crystal clear to me during my years of researching water that there is a direct relationship between drinking water and good health. The better the water, the greater the likelihood that you will be healthy. The best water for your health is water that is as close to nature as possible. That means water that is clean and full of minerals so that it becomes alkaline.

No respect for water

There are literally thousands of blogs on the internet about the importance of diet and exercise. That would lead one to believe that they are the only 2 key factors in achieving and maintaining good health. There is virtually nothing to be found about the importance of water in the health equation. It blows my mind that the public is so completely unaware of the importance of water. Our bodies are made up of 70% water and the functions performed by the water in our body are extensive and life sustaining.

I assume the ambivalence in America is due to the fact that our public drinking water is readily available and inexpensive and therefore is not worth thinking about. The public seems to believe that water is just some boring drink that satisfies your thirst when you can’t get your hands on something that tastes better. Even if people do drink water, they assume that any old water will do as long as it doesn’t taste bad.

Hydration is important

Without water, a human will die in a few days. When people get dehydrated by as little as 2%, their mental capacity drops by 10% to 25% and yet people allow themselves to get dehydrated all the time. When it comes to health, only the air you breathe is as important as the water that you drink.

Water is much more than just hydration

The cells in your body are full of water. The cells themselves live in a sea of water. Think of this as balloons full of water submerged in a bathtub. Water inside…water outside…with a membrane that contains proteins called aquasporins. Think of aquasporins as water channels that allow water to pass rapidly into cells one water molecule at a time. The process requires an electrical gradient, which is where the acidic/alkaline balance comes into play.

Water is responsible for transportation in your body….bringing nutrients, oxygen, and hydrogen to cells and taking away the acidic byproducts created in the cells. Water is also responsible for communication. Basically, nothing happens in your body without water.

Drinking clean, mineral rich water helps maximize the health and performance of your body

What would be your idea of perfect water? A good guess would be a fast moving glacial stream on a mountain top. If you break down the components of the ideal water, you would find clean water that is full of minerals and is “lively” or ionized.

We have already covered the importance of hydration. Intuitively, you know that your water should be clean. There are 60,000 known contaminants in our world of which several hundred make it into our day to day water supply. To make matters worse, our municipalities add nasty chemicals to our water to make it safe to drink….or should I say safe enough so that you won’t die right away. The chemicals diminish our health over time unless we remove them.

Understanding the other benefits of good drinking water are not so obvious. However, a little education will help you understand the critical importance of minerals in your water. Water can play a key roll in maintaining a healthy acid/alkaline balance in our bodies. Alkaline water is created when alkali minerals such as Sodium, Calcium, Potassium, and Magnesium are present in the water. Hey, aren’t those minerals available in our tap water? Yes they are, until your municipality annihilates the water when it cleanses it for safe drinking purposes.

Our bodies need to maintain a delicate acid/alkaline balance because our blood needs to remain in a slightly alkaline state in the 7.3 to 7.4 pH range. If the pH of our blood strays outside that narrow range, serious health issues and even death can occur.

The diets of most people in our society, with the exception of vegetarians, are very acidic. On top of that, stress creates an acidic environement in our bodies.

While the focus of everyone’s attention is on what we eat, everyone should be equally concerned about what we drink. Sodas, juices, coffee, and alcohol are very acidic and the consumption levels of those beverages is very high for many people. If you are a vegetarian, or careful about what you eat, think about drinking the above liquids as eating an acidic steak. On the other hand, think about drinking alkaline water as eating a healthy plate of veggies or a salad.

People should be drinking water…but not just any water. Tap water is full of harmful chemicals no matter what your government tells you. Your body already knows you shouldn’t be drinking tap water and that is why so few of us do.

That brings us to filtered bottle water or reverse osmosis water. The water produced by reverse osmosis is very acidic as it typically has a pH range of 5.5 to 6.0. The bottled water created by Pepsico (Aquafina) has also has a pH of about 5.6 and the bottled water made by Coca Cola (Dasani) also has an acidic pH of about 6.4.

People should not be drinking acidic bottled water regardless of their views of what the plastic bottles do to our environment. People should be drinking alkaline water. You can buy alkaline water (Fiji for example), but it is very expensive and terrible for the environment. There are other more effective ways to drink alkaline water.

Finally, our bodies need minerals. Most of us don’t get enough in our diets. If you drink alkaline water created by natural means, and by that I mean mineral rich water, the water will contrinbute to your daily mineral requirements. The reverse osmosis people have been telling us for years that your body can’t utilize inorganic minerals, but the evidence to the contrary, as supported by the US government and others is overwhelming.
